Claude Skills 9 months ago

Claude Skills are going to be the end of all human mental labor, but in a good way.

Eventually, we shall, as a human race working together, also figure out how to generalize this to all AI models, all robotics, and all human skills.

My friend Christopher Santos-Lang wrote a fantastic paper on how every strategy for any given Skill can be benchmarked against every other strategy such that we always end up with the best strategies in our shared universal repository of Skills. See https://arxiv.org/abs/2503.20986

Can anyone help me understand this: How does the AI "see" what's happening on the screen? Is there some sort of object/scene recognition going on?

Fascinating discovery that will have long term implications for longevity research! I now wonder if caloric restriction works partially because when we're ingesting calories, we're often ingesting cooked DNA, which, according to this research can cause DNA damage in humans.

Suppose you want to see if a large pizza (16 inches) is bigger than two mediums (12 inches). Plug in 16 for C, and 12 for A. It looks like the large pizza can be split into a 12-inch and 10.5-inch pizza, so two-mediums are in fact bigger.

I never thought of applying Pythagorean Theorem here, but it's incredibly useful!

Valuable framework.

"Venture backed tech companies are built to get huge or die. Like a lottery ticket, you either win big or lose. But outside of tech, it's common to run a business to generate free cash flow for its owners."

Only a small percentage of companies should be pursuing venture capital. Unfortunately, the way the tech media celebrates raising money, it projects that it signifies success. This has misled many startup founders.

I'm in the beta, and the product is actually pretty useful. I've never been a fan of complicated spreadsheets. Plus, spreadsheets are 2-dimensional, in a sense. Fieldbook gets rid of several such limitations. You are free to do what you want with your data without having to write SQL queries or macros. The interface also is cleverly intuitive.
