I use ntfy.sh for sending push notifications from scripts and such. It's open source and free (they have paid plans as well now, but I didn't encounter any limitations in the free plan).

Shottr (https://shottr.cc/) is a great screenshot and annotations app and also includes this feature.

Not a promotion, just a very satisfied user of the app; it's quite beautifully designed.

I haven't noticed any issues on YouTube after subscribing. Before that it used to glitch once in a while possibly to penalize the ad blocking. But that may have been the behaviour in Chrome too for all I know.

Google Meet does have some key features missing on Firefox such as blurring / changing video background.

Experiencing the same issue. Google is falling apart. It's choosing English as the source language with queries like this, and destination is any language which you may have used recently with translate.

You fail to see that the criticism comes from rooting for Firefox and Mozilla through all these years and seeing them focus on everything other than their main product.

I'm willingly to bet HN has a much higher percentage of Firefox users than the internet average, and we are all tired and disappointed in Mozilla's current leadership because they've failed to innovate and keep the browser competitive.

Discovered this on HN a few months ago, and it has become indispensable for me. Beautiful software with subtle, nifty innovations in UX.

I love that Jesse is taking a first principles approach with this and not constraining himself with the standard text editor patterns. He's also pretty active on the support forum and very receptive to feedback.

Then what would you glamorize? I'd think that in a free-market economy revenue is a pretty good proxy for usefulness too in most cases.

Same here. I have firstname.<digit>@gmail and I keep getting emails for the non-dot variant. And to add to the frustration, in order to unsubscribe some services require you to send an email from the same address. I've never hated Gmail's "convenience" feature of ignoring dots more. If they really wanted to offer it, they should have also given the option of adding/removing dots while sending emails too.

Someone even has a Paypal account on my dot-less email. It beats me how a payments company can let somebody add an email without verification and not offer an easy to way to remove it.

I used to work at Akamai and Problem Details is used in most of their APIs. It might have something to do with the fact that one of the RFC authors (Mark Nottingham / @mnot on HN) worked there for a while.

Any insight on Laravel/PHP? I've been seeing DNS resolution issues with Alpine as well, but they seem to mainly affect PHP services and not Go.

Great work! Love the effort you spent on making notes retrieval easy, all while keeping a beautiful and simple UX. Especially commendable for a solo dev.

Don't be overwhelmed by the negative comments on the pricing model. To be honest, I'd prefer a one-time purchase over subscriptions too, but the recurring pricing you've kept is modest and isn't a dealbreaker for me. And as someone else commented, the monthly subscription in a way gives a sense of safety that the app is going to be actively developed and maintained.

Also I like that you've decided to keep the app usable for all actions other than adding new notes if a user stops paying. I'd need that guarantee before I can commit to a new note-taking app and migrate all my notes.

I'd echo the request of introducing mobile apps for this as well. Preferably on both iOS and Android, as I find that while a lot of folks use Mac because of their work, a significant number of them use Android phones. Also, markdown imports would be great, if it's not already supported.

Maybe it's something to do with a MIME sniffing attack. The user profile URL may be detected as a different MIME type by the browser based on the extension: https://gitlab.com/myname.js

Moreover, India as a country has a lax attitude towards safety. When you are fighting to get the basic stuff, the safety aspect does not even cross most people's minds. This can be observed pretty much everywhere. In most construction sites here we don't see the workers wearing hard hats, which are seen as a bare necessity in developed countries.

As someone pointed out, in this case the accident could have been prevented by forming a makeshift seat-belt out of cloth, but the inventor probably wasn't thinking about safety at all.

You're right about other sites, but Hotstar does support IPv6:

Cliqz had closed last year. The team went on to create a new product called Tailcut, which Brave acquired.

I mostly liked the new UI, except for the changes in the tab bar, the major one being reducing the tab width to mirror Chrome's. When you have more than a few dozen tabs open in Chrome or the new Firefox, it becomes near impossible to know which is which. Fortunately, I found an about:config property to change it:

Visit about:config and update browser.tabs.tabMinWidth to 100 or 110, whichever looks better to you.

So I'm not alone. I felt that too!

This is actually very much possible. I just learned that it's implemented using Google One Tap for Web. [1] That's the web version of One Tap, which lets Android app developers add single-click login using a Google account.

Apparently one of the features of the SDK is automatic sign-in [2], without any user interaction, which Quora seems to be using. In contrast, LinkedIn and Medium also use the same SDK but only suggest logging in with Google in a pop-up. [3]

Edit:

There's a way to turn it off. Disable "Google Account sign-in prompts" setting in Google account permissions [4].
