That being the case, then the present value of Bitcoin is much higher than it would be with no expectation of future forks. It is like holding shares in a company which spins-off a division to increase shareholder value.

And: Is the question empirical or analytic? It is hard to discuss such matters without an agreed framework, definitions. The definitions for these terms are a long-standing analytic conundrum.

Abstractly, it is hard to understand how any performance could require consciousness unless consciousness is defined as a class of performance. If it is, then the question boils down to "Is performance class I a proper subset of performance class C?" Which is, prima facie, an analytic question.

For me, a marginal pay increase is only a differentiator when comparing two otherwise equally ranked opportunities. I once left a 300k job to take a 180k job on the basis of work content, cultural fit, and optionality. But, I make most of my money by holding XMR, so the difference in pay doesn't determine my quality of life - nor my ability to exercise charity - which is, practically, the same thing.

I agree that it is a bad analogy, but I think it goes far beyond supply and demand differences: Music is performed mostly by muscle memory, "system 1", while code is developed mostly by ratiocination, "system 2".

Fine artists usually produce works on speculation. Craft persons usually produce on a cottage-industrial basis, essentially commodity piecework. There are a lot of ways to get paid, beyond the two you highlight, so the parallels are not as clear as you appear to be assuming.

Given that alphabay was busted within 96 hours of accepting zcash, and that both Greene and Zooko have said they could backdoor it for a subpeona, i find it hard to take zcash seriously. TLA coin.

My first guess is inflammation of the microglia. Try a combination of galantamine and ibudilast twice daily, and avoid all gluten. If the brain fog doesn't lift, my diagnosis was wrong and you are no worse for it. If my diagnosis was right, it should make a very marked and phenomenologically obvious subjective difference.

The open source world has created an alternative system which works extremely well, lacking mostly in usability factors, which could be resolved pretty quickly...but proprietary networks are entrenched quite deeply, so it will be a while before we can use digital cash - probably legislative action will be required, or a mass rebellion against the costs imposed by the payment networks. Sadly, retailers can't seem to think that far ahead.

Because our society is stuck on a finite planet, using a debt-based monetary system in which counter-party obligations expand exponentially. Without an alternative monetary system, the disruptions which occur when the exponential growth stops may be of a scale on par with an extinction level event, in the most extreme scenarios.

All of the transparent block chains create another problem, however: Pervasive surveillance, and chilling effects. For that reason, I like the singular cryptocurrency which offers the anonymity and fungibility of cash, without a pre-mine scam or a graft tax, Monero. I think it is the only exemplar which offers all of the features required to serve as both a store of wealth and a medium of exchange. (Privacy being a requirement for fungibility.)
