I can really relate to this post, celebrating my birthday with a party for the first time in 10+ years in 2025, it truly had a massive impact on my mental health and it made me realize I should throw little gatherings much more often.

Just because the carrier of energy is source independent, doesn't mean the consumer of that energy is not responsible for the carbon emissions of its production. Since we're talking hundreds of TWh[1], the policies of those consumers can have a massive impact on global emissions.

This is true in many situations, but setting up full self-maintained payment processing isn't really a feasible option for small or even larger development teams. Payment processing is heavily regulated with many legal requirements, not to mention the countless security threats.
The cringe is real with this naming choice.
Bob- and apartment-owner here. We have a small kitchen and just don't have the space for a full-sized dishwasher. Bob fits snugly in the cabinet under the sink and runs once a day for a 2-person household.
It's perfect for our needs and saves us a lot of both time and water.
I found the most easy way to motivate people to switch, is to just remove your WhatsApp profile-picture and set your status to something like "Find me on Signal".
The amount of people reaching out via WhatsApp lowered drastically, all (but one) of my main contacts are now also on Signal.

Not based on actual research, but my guess is that with Edge, you'll now have Google phone-homing combined with Microsoft phone-homing. Unless Microsoft actively went out of their way to remove calls to Google, there may still be many present, as found in many reports about Chromium.

As pbarnes_1 said, I'd recommend adding some form of authentication. Perhaps you can instruct the service to send the requester instructions to provide proof that they are the owner of the account.

Interesting project! Perhaps you could add a return value depending on whether results were found (using sys.exit or something like that) so it can be integrated in CI-pipelines.

I'm interested in how this robot "survived" the radiation levels that many previous robots did not [1]. I know little to nothing about radiation hardening, but this seems like an almost impossible task, considering it being exposed to more than 530 sieverts per hour [2], which is the highest radiation level ever recorded.

Keep in mind that enabling the LastPass Accessibility service in Android disables device protection features (like storage encryption).
I've had similar experiences with electronic shops. One thing that's really helped me is legal counsel insurance. It's about €5,- a month for the entire household and if a shop doesn't offer a fair solution, I just give the insurer a call and they take care of everything. It's saved me a lot of time and headaches.
I use Loop[1] for something like this. It's an Open Source Android app that looks and works pretty nicely, it doesn't have a web-view or sync capabilities though.

I just regularly run `yarn upgrade-interactive` in my projects.
I was thinking of making dependency-updates part of the CI-pipeline, using a 'allow_failure'-flag. However, if you decide not to upgrade a dep for some reason, this will cause each and every build to throw a warning.

Next to the comments made by other users, it seems like the app just uploaded my address book without explicitly asking me. This was a really scary situation and resulted in an instant uninstall to hopefully stop it from uploading.
