For unity gamedev code reviews, I much preferred the gpt5 code. Claude gave me a bunch of bad recommendations for code changes, and also an incorrect formula for completion percentage.

I feel like ads are the least clever/most damaging way to make money for a platform. Maybe better would be to charge large servers a hosting fee. The server owners could figure out how to make money to pay for the fees, through donations to the channel, externally, etc.

Asianometry has a good one on this. They’ve become dependent on US software (and hardware), and programming is considered a low prestige job.

Today I learned that mitochondria are the only organelles that replicate “on their own” inside a cell, while the other organelles just bud off the preexisting ones. I wonder how they are signaled to do so though.

Japan is an island, which can be blockaded, so they’ve always tried to help their farmers. Usually they pay the farmers to grow less, not pay them to grow nothing. Also this policy was phased out in 2018; now they’re just subsidizing farmers and encouraging crop diversity. I think they’re doing a good job. Being a farmer is always hard. In Japan at least they’re making it easier. Encouraging crop diversity and organic farming is nice (especially compared to the us corn/soy situation).

It’s not memorizing, it’s actually knowing and understanding the utility of different concepts. When you learn of a problem in a new field, you go through your bucket of tools and modify one to fit the new problem.

Excel could do this so much better though (and I think excel is the best candidate for visual scripting overhaul). The cell could have two parts; top parts is the function signature (other cells could reference by signature, or by cell number), bottom part is the code. Each cell is a function.

People put huge unreadable basic functions in that tiny box. It's such an obvious pain point, surprised it's never been addressed. Replace vba with c#, have a visual line linking cells to other cell references, bam million dollar product.

I always thought excel could do this, and everyone already knows excel. Toss out the vba, replace with python, every cell is a function, have a regular view, a relationship view that shows which cells connect to the current selected cell, have a run, stop pause, step/break button. Everyone would use this.

You are more likely to die from lung cancer, than from a motorcycle accident, statistically. You are also wasting a lot of your life sitting in traffic. The cost of ownership is much higher, so you could say you’re wasting more hours at work to pay for the large vehicle. I’d say it breakeven at best.
