Hi! I’m a frontend engineer with 8+ years of experience building large, production React and TypeScript web applications. My background includes leading user-facing web products from early prototypes through production, primarily in financial and business software for SMBs, across both large organizations and startups. I’m exploring new opportunities due to a possible move to Seattle and a broader push toward RTO at my current company, and I’m currently only open to remote-friendly roles in the US or Seattle-based teams.

Is there a way to disable the advanced window management and scope features? I'm tempted to try out your utility because of the Search & Switch feature. However, I'm already using a window manager (aerospace) that I'm not ready to replace. Given how aerospace works, I suspect the window management/scope features would clash.

I’ve been using this for a while now and I really enjoy it. I ran into a semi-obscure bug and emailed them and they basically fixed it the same day.

I do wish there was a mobile app though (or maybe an iOS keyboard). It would also be nice to be able to have a separate hotkey you can set up to send the output to a specific app (instead of just the active one).

I found it put too much pressure on my face (even with the dual loop band) and not useful enough to justify the discomfort. I haven't used it since February, but I keep telling myself I'll eventually take it out and try it again if they come up with a compelling use case for it.

I think what I'm trying to say though is that there's no benefit to starting with one tooth if you have already paid that "startup cost". Since at that point the cognitive load of flossing one tooth vs flossing all your teeth is basically nonexistent.

Right, but breaking down tasks after "activating" the task probably isn't very useful. Doing the one tooth thing doesn't really help since once you are already there, the gap between doing that and the rest of the teeth is basically nonexistent. You might as well start off flossing all your teeth if you are able to get to the flossing part. Breaking down activation energy is also hard. Taking floss out and putting it on the counter feels like it might not be reinforcing enough. Something more useful might revolve around storing the floss in a more readily available position or using something like floss picks and/or other things that might reduce friction. But ultimately, I think everything eventually boils down to raw discipline.

And by “start small” I mean “floss one tooth per night for 3 months to build a flossing habit” small. Let your good habits progressively and slowly consume more time, similar to what bad habits do.

The difficulty here is primarily in initiating the task consistently imo. Once you are already at the point of flossing one tooth there likely isn’t much mental resistance to flossing the others. I think it’s better to do things that lower the resistance to starting the task in the first place as opposed to just making the task smaller.

Doesn’t this only work for relatively contrived situations? I can tell a jr dev to go and add some minor feature in a codebase, put it behind a flag, and add tracking/analytics to it. I can point to the part of the application I want the feature to be added on the screen and the jr devs are often able to find it on their own. I haven’t seen chatGPT do anything like that and I don’t think there is a way to provide it with the necessary context even if it has the capability.

I've been running the latest version of macOS and I've never had to reboot to enable camera permissions for any app. I haven't had to do it on fresh install or upgrade. The only thing I've had to do is close the app and open it again after giving it camera permission on first install. Subsequent updates seem to keep that permission enabled...

I think the issue is that our laws and economy are not structured in a way that makes it likely for those gains to be distributed back to anyone other than the ultra wealthy. Not that I expect AI to take over most programming jobs anytime soon (or ever), but if it does, it would almost certainly happen long before society manages to agree on a system to distribute those gains back in a way that benefits the average person.

I used it for a year and liked the concept well enough at first. But the filtering by email addresses makes it difficult when many companies use the same email address to send both transactional and promotional emails.

And the lack of SMTP makes migrating off their service slightly less clean as well.

I think most people just use a layer for the F keys. It also means their fingers don’t need to travel as far to hit them.

I’ve been enjoying this keyboard a lot as well. Unfortunately, it seems to randomly keep waking up my MacBook every several minutes and the only fix I’ve been able to find is to manually turn the switch off when I’m done using the computer.

I’m also not a huge fan of having to charge both sides individually although so far the battery life seems quite good. I don’t move my computer often and use a dock so it would be nice to be able to just leave it plugged in without worrying about battery, but doing that requires both sides to each have a cable plugged into a power source.

I was able to get it working with the 'X-Api-Key' header and it seemed to give back JSON by default without adding anything to the query string.

Is there any incentive to prevent a reviewer from just entering a pseudonym instead of their real name? It would be amusing if after the court order all the company received was "Test User was the one who wrote this review".

the air is thinner and lighter though. i think a lot of people (including myself) would consider that tradeoff worth it.

This happens regardless of the peripherals. I usually have a wired keyboard and a wireless (with a usb dongle) mouse connected through a Caldigit TB4 hub. It is possible it might be some weird macOS/chrome/zoom bug and not necessarily an issue with the CPU itself though.

I've been having somewhat similar issues without overloading the system. For context, I have an M1 Max 14" with 64GB of RAM.

When I join a zoom meeting in my web browser, the system hangs for a few seconds. There's also random issues like my bluetooth keyboard lagging and then repeating keys for the first few seconds after it reconnects. It also intermittently seems to drop keys from my USB keyboard when connected to CalDigit TB4 dock and needs to be unplugged and re-plugged in multiple times.

I always see people say things like this, but I have an almost fully specced out m1 max and the system grinds to a halt for a few seconds when I do basic tasks like join a zoom meeting from my web browser. Like the mouse will lag, if I’m listening to music it will start to skip or freeze, etc.

The “connection” is usually just with a sales associate (retail employee in store) who feels like offering to sell you one at any random Hermes store, which isn’t a particularly “impossible” connection to acquire. There’s a lot of things that can be done to increase the chances as well including but not limited to:

- send in your husband/boyfriend

- buy a lot of Hermes products from the same SA

- claim it’s your birthday or that you’re expecting (harder to pull of nowadays since it’s done often)

- visit a store in France

The difficult part is being able to get it in the size/color/hardware you want since they don’t necessarily have what you want in stock or have for whatever reason decided to not show it to you as an option.

But there are many other battery powered things like UPSes in an office, teslas, roombas, or Dyson vacuums that wouldn’t necessarily make sense to charge in your bedroom but tend to stay connected to a charger when not in use.

Are you sure you're measuring the ram properly? I just opened VSCode with nothing open and it's taking several hundred MB. The main process only uses about 50MB, but it also spawns several Code Helper processes. Some of which use between 50-150MB each.

I personally haven’t been able to find another laptop with the same battery life, design, trackpad, and screen quality of mac hardware.

I bought an M1 max laptop and I’m almost tempted to go back to my Linux machine because of several issues I have with macOS. There are things that are by design like mandatory animation delays for things like switching spaces and going in/out of fullscreen, which are borderline dealbreakers for me given how often I do those things. And there are also things I suspect are either bugs or straight up performance lapses, such as scrolling through text in a terminal at 4k being slow if you have ligatures enabled.

I could go on, but I think it’s a perfectly valid sentiment (regardless of whether or not they were venting) to wish for mac hardware with a Linux OS.
