what I miss from GUA/GA4 is a "top pages" report. Matomo seems to only support a url-path-based treeview like Pages report which makes it quite difficult to find the top performing pages if the site has many sections/categories

while I share your sentiments regarding some other companies, I was able to get in touch with an actual cloudflare technician (and not some outsourced first level support with standard boilerplate replies) in a timely manner even on their free tier when I ran into a problem with one of their system. every support case with them has do far been a real pleasure compared to what you experience with other companies. I only hope they will be able to keep this level...

for our sites behind cloudflare, it seems to be a routing issue (among possible other things) - some visitors can still access the sites, others can't. traffic went down roughly 60%.

great color picker, really love the preview images. the only thing missing for me is to have the possibility to specify a specific color in hex as a starting point: most of the time when I'm looking for additional colors for a project, the main color is already pretty much set.

while there are several good points made in the video, one really made me think: if you're in an IQ segment that gives you lot of opportunities - as the prof said: "not just opening word, but programming" -, it is really easy to forget that many people might struggle with "reasonable simple" tasks.

For many use cases it suffices to symlink a Windows directory (e.g. /mnt/c/Users/myuser) into your WSL $HOME directory somewhere and do your source work

that's what I'm doing for quite a while now and works well for my workload: fast IDE on Windows 10 for coding, reasonably fast building on WSL side.

sure, file access in WSL is slower that native, but still way faster than any other combination I've tried in the last few years (VM + Shared Folders, VM + SMB, VM + file sync, ...) when lots of files are changed at once, for example when switching between project branches.

this problem has been introduced in a driver update around march. but it has been fixed for me (lenovo x1 yoga) in the latest synaptics touchpad driver update v19.3.4.97 [0]:

sorry for the late reply. nidwalden and zurich... there was not much difference between the process in the two cantons. we had a lawyer and an accountant help us in the beginning to get the hard-to-figure-out things during incorporation right. money well spent!

huh, where does your experience come from?

currently running two small swiss it companies (3 and 6 employees), and ran several more in the past. none had a "full-time administrator".

founding costs (notary, fees etc) were always around €2000 for GmbH and €5000 for AG. our yearly expense for an external accounting expert to do our end-of-year accounting and taxes is around 1k to 2k per company (i.e. 1 to 2 man-day).

I have to agree: the magento ecosystem produced some of the worst code I've seen. we're currently supporting a few mid-sized online shops (40-80k products) - around 50% of our development time is spent patching things.

magento 2 has made things a lot better, at least on the tech side. but the 2.0 code is far from stable. even the now available 2.1 is hardly ready for production - unless you patch things up yourself or have a rather simple shop.

this might be true if you live in the US, but in some other countries it is still hard to actually buy movies or tv shows.

as for the legality itself: in some countries downloading media itself for personal use is not illegal.

for example in switzerland, there is a media tax/fee included in the price of every device that potentially could store pirated materials. the income from this tax is then distributed to media producers and artists. in return, copying copyrighted material is tolerated for private use and consumption... this excludes redistribution and uploading.

we tried keeping everything in the same table in some web app of ours. we used a version id and an extra versioning status field that kept track of the states "latest published", "latest draft", "archived" which kinda worked fine...

the disadvantage is bloat, as in our case the history data was rarely used at all and just there as a safeguard.

oh right. small but important detail... thanks for pointing it out to me.

the problem seems only half solved - the author does not show how they select (only) the most recent record.

as soon as the app needs to generate a list of f.e. active users, this can get nasty pretty quick. sure, one could use an aggregate like max(version), but once there are joins or lots of records involved, this could become a performance hit...

EDIT: the records are kept in a separate table, so my arguments are moot.
