Sure, some computer people live in bubble. But the idea that humanities professors are going to help change that instead of making them even more deluded I think is wrong. The humanities are currently a toxic breeding ground for pro statist, pro racist and pro sexist ideas. Only since their sexist and racist views express the kind of sexism and racism that government types approve of, it gets promoted as being "humanitarian"

This guy is overreacting. He didn't fail that badly, he managed to create something that sold hundreds of copies. He said his experience was "soul crushing" and that being an indie dev is some hopeless thing now, yet you got a decent outcome for only a few months work and only a few thousand dollars spent. Just keep hammering out small games, only try to add something slightly unique to each one, nothing complicated, but enough that it would catch the attention of simple minded people enough that they would spend a few dollars for a novelty approach. People bashing the pixel art angle are very very stupid. People LOVE that stuff. The people who post here are generally smart and have high level tastes, which isn't your audience, and it doesn't need to be. You aren't gunning for critic approval or the next hot thing. You must realize that there are millions of people with questionable taste that want to be given the same tropes over and over again. You just need a slightly more novelty approach. You have a good thing going here, with a little tweaking you likely can make enough to survive full time in your country. Get a job for a while and figure out how you can bang out more of these types of games which take a few months to develop. Its probably good to ignore most of the negative advice you are getting here as well. Do not fall into feelings of hopelessness when you almost fulfilled your goal. You will get better which each successive project.

I agree with this guy that having to use a mouse is often a chore and inefficient. Google search used to have a feature where you could hit tab after a search and it would auto select the results in order, but that seems to be gone. We need more features like that. Keyboard control supremacy will come back, it is inevitable.

These losers that lost the battle of ideas really want to push a message that anything that goes against their narrative and interests automatically implies evil, criminality and debauchery. Nobody cares if people in Russia did things to influence US culture. People from different countries can speak to one another and exchange ideas. The only people who oppose this are authoritarians that want to shut down the discourse. All sides push propaganda, who cares if it comes from Russia? Why specifically is it "sabotage" and "meddling" when it comes from Russia? We are talking about internet ads that push a certain kind of ideology, not criminal acts. Hilary Clinton lost because she ran one of the most embarrassingly awful and out of touch election campaigns of all time. Even if Russia did push lies and manipulations, if it resulted in denying that terrible cow the presidency then ultimately it is still a good thing. The US should be easing sanctions on them because of this, not constantly berating them in the media.

Any person or group that manages to avoid paying taxes should be celebrated. The solution to this "problem" should not be that the wealthy pay more taxes, but that nobody should have to pay taxes since it is blatant theft that funds incompetent and evil people. Nothing that the government does is good. All money that goes to the government is either wasted or spent in ways that make society objectively worse. All functions of government can be replaced and improved by a free market system.

Windows is doomed 9 years ago

Mobile is not a major threat to desktops, they serve different purposes. People who have desktop PCs aren't getting rid of them because they bought a phone or tablet. Even though Microsoft has questionable practices they still have the best desktop OS. This is clickbait trash journalism.

a Basket of Figs and a Letter, did by the way eat up a great part of his Carriage, conveying the remainder unto the Perfon to whom he was di- rected, who when he had read the Letter, and not finding the quantity of Figs anfwerable to what was there fpoken of, he accufes the Slave of eating them, telling him what the Letter faid againft him. But the In- dian (notwithftanding this proof) did confidently abjure the Fa&, curling the Paper, as being a falfe and lying Witnefs. After this, being lent again with the like Carriage, and a Letter expreffing the juft number of Figs that were to be delivered, he did again, according to his former Pra- ctice, devour a great part of them by the way.

People believe in conspiracy because it is a real thing that happens. Human beings conspire, manipulate and lie. You can say that most popular examples of conspiracy theories are absurd but it does not make the concept itself invalid. Believing that people never work together for various nefarious and deceptive purposes is just as dumb as believing that everything is some kind of conspiracy.

There is still plenty of room left in electronic music for new ideas and exciting masterpieces. Popular music is definitely especially vile today, but that does not make the musical form itself dead.

"Supporters of women in tech praised Google." .. total lockdown of discourse is helpful to women? Outright firing anybody who dares to ask for open discussion is creating a more woman friendly working environment? This is pretty sexist. They are openly saying that in order for women to succeed we need authoritarian thought policing, and that if you are a woman you automatically agree with their agenda. Something strange is going on here.

Maybe they should work in salt mines? What is so bad about that? We need to get rid of this stigma that if you're not an intellectual then you're automatically some poor serf at the bottom rungs of society. Your attitude is a perfect example of elitist culture, that anyone who doesn't have an "advanced" ""education"" isn't worthy of any dignified position in society. Forcing all people to go through a watered down higher education is wasteful and stupid. Higher education is a thing only needed for certain roles and should only be attempted by a fraction of the population.

They want to lower the bar so that they can pass more low-mediocre people though the system, give them the false idea that they are intelligent and eventually give them government jobs. They need a class of useful idiots in power to achieve their goal of a complete technocratic surveillance state. These type people are already taking power positions all over and totally changing the working culture. Look at that guy who wrote the google diversity criticism memo, it wasn't even a controversial thing, yet he was brought down by this mob of new brainwashed low-intellect people pushing an insane agenda. The kind of person who can't pass a remedial English exam or do any kind of advanced mathematics is perfect for this role. Having advanced reasoning skills, language and mathematics skills actually puts them at a disadvantage here, what they need is a new class of bullies and manipulators that will go along with whatever they are told.

Many of the problems the author speaks of are likely caused by things other than smart phones. Young people are facing an increasingly dim future, the prospects of being able to find a good job or own a home keep getting worse. All that stuff filters through family relations, friends.. etc. and its not like social pressures to be accepted did not exist in the past. It is easier to find friends and fit in today using social media. Isolated people can more easily find groups they identify with if they have more uncommon personalities than in the past. It does not matter if young people get less screen time, they are still going to be thrown into and economic and cultural disaster society. Big government destroyed a generation, not smart phones.

Or for this reason, because it may be questioned whether the same simple essence can be expressed by many diverse attributes. There are, indeed, many definitions of compound things but only a single one of a simple thing, nor does it seem that its essence can be expressed except in a single way.

Get rid of all government programs. Instantly a huge amount of wealth will be gained and productivity will skyrocket. It is very important to remember: nothing the government does is good. What is the minimum amount of manipulation and lies it takes to cover up a problem? This is the question every government worker ponders every day of their job. Every one of these people are lying, scheming, delusional people. They manipulate and they lie, they shuffle things around and create busy-work for disgusting twisted crab-people.

Nothing that the Canadian Government does is good. All
government institutions survive through theft, deception
and immorality. All government programs are dysgenics
programs. All functions of government can be surpassed by regulation free markets. All non-voluntary regulations are implicitly sexist, racist and immoral. All government programs perpetuate abusive relationships. All government workers are bad people. All functions of government should be replaced by regulation free markets.
Canada is one of the worst places to live in the world
right now, as it on the verge of a complete TechnoMarxist takeover and well on the way to becoming a neo-third-world country. In < 10 years we will have a complete surveillance state, forced labor camps and eugenics programs. The federal government already has apps with points based rewards systems that track all of your behavior and give you tax credits for destroying your country and people.
To see people praising this obviously paid by the federal
government shill is shocking, here on this website, a website for intellectuals. You utter fools! You're playing right into the hands of the authoritarians.

There is a lot of valuable information and,in my opinion, the author's views are well supported by his experience and his research. However, you get the sense he has been paid by the word. I think democratic systems are under threat. I think, as well, that the threats are resulting in lower economic growth and fewer opportunities for evolving generations. This article does not provide an important context as to why this is happening. Society would be better off if everyone knew this stuff. I just wish it was a little more readable.

Intellectual property is one of the worst things ever created, used extensively by that certain group of humans to hold back progress for the entire species. People in the future will view these laws as barbaric and evil. We would probably have advanced space ships, and certainly world peace and material abundance by now if not for people treating abstract ideas as property.

I use this command for widgets with mingwx64:

mingw32-make -f makefile.gcc BUILD=release SHARED=1 MONOLITHIC=1 UNICODE=1 USE_OPENGL=1 CXXFLAGS=-fno-keep-inline-dllexport

works on multiple machines for me, I write openGL GUI apps.
