If I understand your approach correctly, this is how live virtual machine migration typically works (e.g., https://none.cs.umass.edu/~shenoy/courses/spring18/readings/...). I'm pretty sure I needed to mess with xorg.conf and other settings to get things like screen resolution and Compiz working correctly. I don't know what part of the stack was responsible for those issues, but I thought it was related to the graphics driver.
I could be misremembering though, this was 15+ years ago now.
If I remember correctly, the open source ATI drivers were always a bit buggy and it wasn't that easy getting them installed either. The tradeoff was always Nvidia: proprietary but works well, ATI: open but buggy.

I think it's common to have multiple systems on different airgapped networks in the same room. So if one of the networks were compromised this could let you pivot to another network. Or if they're both compromised it would give a way to exfil from one to the other.

Work-life balance at Shopify is unparalleled. Work is synchronous-ish but it's super easy to run out for some afternoon errands or a quick workout. Shopify is pretty visionary here - turns out happy and healthy employees do better work than ones that are chained to a desk all day

The US News ranking is known to be totally garbage, I really wish people would stop citing it. csrankings.org, which tries to be more objective, has Szeged tied with a number of other schools for at 432 globally (of course that's only considering the CS department).
(FWIW I think ranking schools like this is generally harmful, and even "objective" rankings will still have plenty of biases baked in)
Totally locking down a computer to just a pre-approved set of software is a huge step towards securing it from the kind of attackers most individuals, companies, and governments are concerned with. Sacrificing "software freedom" for that kind of security is a trade off that the vast majority of users will be willing to make - and I think the free software community will need to come to terms with that fact at some point and figure out what they want to do about it.
So, as an order of magnitude, the price asked by Qualcomm for extended support is 1M$.
I'll second the request for a source for this, $1M seems ridiculously low.
