I do the same. Then group them in Digikam. Cull aggressively and put the best photos in an "external library" in Immich. Easy way to make them avaliable to my phone, without cluttering up my iCloud photos with duplicate JPEGs.

The last issue with my workflow now is figure out a better way to cull my iCloud photos, as they are a mess, and it's a bit annoying doing it on my phone.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter what you say. It's mostly about body language and not seeming like a threat (smile). You can talk about whatever. Tell them about a movie you just saw and ask them about recommendations. Ask them for restaurant or dinner suggestions. Tell them about that article you just read which you found intereting.

If they are open to small talk, they will drop some tidbits that you can spring off on. Conversation is a two way street. If they don't seem interested in keeping the conversation going, tell them to have a nice day and carry on with yours.

I was recently evicted from my apartment in a city in Norway experiencing similar growth in short-term rentals. The rental on that apartment was around €750 (same for my roommate). Apparently, during high season in the winter similar apartments goes for ~€830 a night. High season is 3 months in the winter, but seemingly that is enough to outcompete longterm tenants.

Yeah, my bet is they are going downhill. Would love to know if anyone is archiving the work. I've contributed with a few samples over the years, and it't kind of annoying that this is now under Spotifys ownership.

Lately I've really gotten into bouldering, and I keep looking for some open databases with outdoor crags. I've looked into multiple applications where users submit their own routes, and other users have to pay the app creator in order to access these routes.

Today I stumbled upon OpenBeta, which seems promising, however it currently seems to only contain US routes. I would love to get some discussion on alternatives.

I have taken the Oslo-Bergen night train line multiple times.

It was quite expensive. You had to buy a two bedroom coach, even if you were traveling alone.

Recently, the Norwegian train company have made a new offering which I would describe as more "hostel"-like, where you sleep in a coach with 5 strangers[0]. Hopefully this will offer a much more affordable option.

One of the reasons the expensive PoS is popular, at least in the shops where they have a high amount of customers is that the expensive PoS usually offer technical support with a SLA. The amount a medium - large shop saves on always having a payment terminal ready is more than what it might cost to rent one.
