Go to meetups, tech events, conferences, etc. Just get out there and make friends with the type of people who you think can help you accomplish your vision.

I've been switching my personal sites and clients over to Flywheel. It's a really great service (that's surprisingly affordable).

I really like Upwork. I've been getting surprisingly high paying long-term projects on there (anywhere from $50 to $100 per hour).

I should clarify that I didn't create it, but I've recently been helping them increase traffic (so I am involved with it now; just not the creator).

It's not my product, but I think it's slightly less simple than Mint; making it more powerful. Saying it's less simple might sound like a deterrent, but it should be thought of as a huge advantage, especially on the budgeting side. It's easier to create budgets that are easy to follow and make necessary changes to your budget as unexpected expenses pop up.

I'm also a huge fan of the insights/data. I think Everwealth has done a great job displaying data in a way that makes it easy to identify patterns and trends in your spending.

I think Slack built a stronger brand by being obsessed with user feedback. This feedback helped make it fun, and not corporate. For example, look at the HipChat homepage versus Slack homepage. Which looks more enjoyable to use?...

It's also interesting to note that Google is making a large investment in New TLDs: http://www.google.com/registry/ -- In addition to owning a lot TLDs, they just paid $25 million for the rights to .app.

There is something insanely useful about New TLDs though that also lends credibility to a site. For example, I have the domain alex.social as sort of a social hub for myself. I believe that that makes my site almost more credible than my blog domain, alexkehr.com. A domain that firmly says who you are and what you do seems like it should/does have a lot of value.

That's also really a U.S. thing. In other countries, national TLDs are king. Ex: Germany w/ .DE or UK with .co.uk.

Yea, it's pretty easy to get a good new domain. You can use pre-registration on sites like name.com and they basically compete with bigger companies on your behalf. The second a new domain name becomes available, they do everything in their power to be the winning registrar and get you the domain name you pre-registered.

A place like Domainsales.com is probably putting in pre-registrations on a lot of registrars, which increases their chance of winning the name because they then have multiple registrars trying to acquire the same domain name for them.

Not sure if that's coming... I think .HORSE is coming though. :)
