This is absolutely awesome. As someone who has used Gather a bit, this blows it out of the water. Incredibly intuitive and fun way to move around and talk to your friends and coworkers. Once you realize that you don't need, nor want, the 8-bit paradigm to interact with folks, Flat.social clearly becomes the superior way to interact virtually.

Yes! I was doing this for awhile, but I am extremely lazy and didn't want to dig through my photos to find the screenshot. Plus, I wanted to tag in on my apple watch.

I encoded all the lat/longs of the FitnessSF locations into the Mobile Pass, so it'll just pop up on your phone when you're nearby. Saves me precious seconds :)

You're right the QR code doesn't change - neither does the mobile pass! You just have to generate the mobile pass once and never visit my silly website again.

I was doing this too! But as a true millennial I had two complaints:

1. I still had to load the photo app when I approached the gym, which annoyed me. The lat/long encoded in the mobile pass just has it pop up when I'm nearby.

2. I wanted to be able to leave my phone at home and just use my apple watch.

Additionally, the code never changes so you never have to update the mobile pass or visit my dumb website again.

Very informative and exciting technology!

It was because of this assignment that I witnessed a grown man cry.

UO took over much of my life as a youth. I still have yet to discover a game that has the depth that was found in UO. Every once in awhile I find myself playing on the free shards. The complete customization of everything was what really intrigued me. You could buy a house. You were able to permanently impact the game landscape with this house - you controlled a piece of the game! This concept blew my mind. The economy was also incredibly complicated. I remembering being a part of a player-run auction guild. It was essentially a part time job. I had to build relationships with people in order to secure this job - just like real life.

This is way cool. Already spinning it up on my AWS clusters. Such a quick setup. Super stoked to us it.

His newest venture Tamr, is also really interesting. Unifying data with Machine Learning and Human input. I recommend keeping an eye on this one.

This is a pretty novel concept. The current electric skateboard competitors currently on the market are extremely bulky, heavy and sometimes difficult to maneuver. The Z-Board's are the first ones that come to mind, though there are many other cheaper alternatives.

Though, according to their Kickstarter page, they're planning on retailing for ~$2000 a board. This is at least twice as much as their competitors. This seems pretty high to me, unless they're planning on dropping the cost as they iterate on new designs.

I could also be completely off and convenience like this is actually worth much more than I'd expect.

This is really awesome.

I'm really interested to see how the 'no cut' ideology helps circumvent the stupidly strict USA gambling laws.
