This happens more often then you might think.

A lot of people are adding padding when they need to store IPs. So they can be easily sorted using alphanumeric sort:

192.168.001.001 192.168.001.002 192.168.001.003 ... 192.168.001.254

And then use it that way to connect to servers, causing lots of confusions.

Please, please, travel, and by that I don't mean doing a full a world tour. Just explore what exists outside of your surroundings. Exercise yourself to questioning. Making money is fine, and most of the time needed, but discovering what your like / loathe is as important. Talk to people, share stories, get into argument, confront yourself with other way of thinking.

Being able to code or having a nice portfolio might make you hire-able but true maturity will make you shine amongst others.

jTrains is an offline tool to plan railways trip in Japan.

I developed it for my own needs but figured people might like it so I ended up publishing it on the Google Play Store.

It is a bit rough on the edges but I very much welcome any suggestions for improvement.

I have dabbled a bit with it quite a few times and was quite happy about it, but my main issue is that AFAIK there is not "pure" Java API for Realm.

It seems there have been attempts at removing Android dependencies but it seems they were never finished, meaning you can't have it running on desktop apps.

This is (sadly) a showstopper for me.

Long answer is, actually these changes already happened quite a while ago.

Most of the time, we tend to forget IPv6 is in fact more or less 20 years old now.

Support for IPv6 in OSPF (OSPFv3) was introduced in 2008 and support for IPv6 in BGP was added in 2007 (MP-BGP).

AS numbers encoding was also changed in 2007 (32bits ASN) to support all those new connected system.

I never heard about this kind of game. So to summarize (if I understood correctly), this would be a variation of the classical 8 queens problem [0] but on a wider board. Very interesting !

I as told in Jr. High School that we ended bipedal in order to stand in the bush so we could see further what was coming up and then, with our hands now free, we could start building tools and use them. I don't know what this explanation is worth but I find it makes a lot of sense.

Please listen to this advise. Having the proof or maybe only some hints is very important. That might sound far etched but this anonymous person could very well be an insider employee trying to blackmail your company for personal reasons.

I find a recent video by Veritasium [0] very much relevant here. As stated, cognitive ease makes us wary of new or unknown things. It is not simply fear of the unknown, we literally takes the shortest path to something we know, hindering ourselves from new discoveries.

Actually, this is not a new idea. Entire block of IP adresses are known to have been highjacked this way and are now used for spam purposes. Squatters reclaim the block with various ploys including registering an abandoned domain name to accept email to the point-of-contact domain contact. [0]

I really do think the same. Actually the crime sera drama "Columbo" worked that way as we knew beforehand who the culprit was. The point of the whole episode was to discover why the victim was killed and not how or who by.

Can only confirm this too. I lived and worked in Zurich and it it indeed very hard to make friends. They are polite and well meaning but very distant. A (german) coworker told me this (sad but oh so true) joke about Zurich inhabitants : "How to make them laugh ? Point a gun at them and order them to do so". No way I'm going back there.
