With the container-based approach of the Steam Linux Runtime this should no longer be a problem. Games can just target a particular version and Steam will be able to run it forevermore.

The anti-cheat creators other than Valve aren't bothered to invest into making a Linux kernel anti-cheat, and most Linux users would be unwilling to allow one to be installed either.

It can be true that both conservative content gets more widely shared AND that they're still being censored.

There were countless high-profile conservatives banned from pre-Musk Twitter, YouTube and other social media. Likewise there's clear and obvious cases of conservative content being silenced like Donald Trump's interview on Joe Rogan kept off the YouTube trending page as the most recent example.

But these are specific cases, you claim there's lots of evidence that conservatives on the whole get more distribution. I'm not sure I believe that without seeing your purported evidence, but even if studies proved that were the case it doesn't negate the fact that simultaneously there's a large amount of conservatives being censored on top of that, preventing their distribution from going even further.

Or just don't fork Chromium at all and Google can make the upstream their recommended browser.

A huge amount of their products require browser access, having a good UX to access them off in their best interest.

If you're going to the official domains linked from their Wikipedia article then there's definitely no malware.

Not sure but I know that Vorta (borg GUI) does automatic consistency checking using `borg check ` regularly.

SingleFile extension is the modern equivalent these days.

It doesn't work on various distributions, lots of people disable it because of various issues like it being much slower to start, it can only connect to one backend at a time (which is Canonical's proprietary one) unlike Flatpak, and generally the Linux community has settled on Flatpak and AppImage as the preferred universal packaging formats.

If you're going to offer an offline-capable Linux app then no-one wants to use Snap. AppImage or Flatpak is the way.

Yeah this is a design change that can only be fixed on the client application side because there will always be a reason created by an instance for why they don't want X content mirrored to their site.

The main thing Lemmy is missing for adoption is a good desktop and/or mobile app.

Since instances can defederate with each other it's often not possible to follow all your favourite communities from one account. So a good app needs to decouple this and enable follow any community without having an account, and instead store following data in the client.
