Nano Banana Pro 8 months ago

Nano Banana Pro has blown the rest LLMs out of the park. It's wild to think how powerful these models will be in another 5 years.

I read the chat, and a few things stand out that AI should handle better, regardless of context. If a word like suicide is mentioned, it should immediately drop any roleplay or other activities. It's similar to how, in India, mentioning 'bomb' in an airport or plane leads to being questioned by authorities.

Also, it's alarming how easily a 14-year-old can access a gun.

Yes, Namecheap remains my second choice. Cloudflare's interface is so clean, and its transparent pricing ensures you never have to second guess costs or worry about being overcharged, especially useful when managing many domains.

Now that certificates are free, of course, all phishing sites use Let's Encrypt. Evaluating a website's legitimacy using SSL should not have been initiated by browser vendors. The messaging was wrong for the non-tech folks. They do not have anything to do with the site is fake/fraud/malicious. It was just the data-in-transit is safe or not.

Would love to see what others have to say on this but I suspect Apple replacement batteries are inferior compared to the one that comes with the new phone. 4 years of usage and battery max capacity was around 76%. I replaced my iPhone X battery last year. The new one I got is at 86% already and it is not even 12 months. (No usage pattern change. I replaced it from an Apple Store.)

My understanding of this XKCD:

It’s a subtle yet poignant reminder that our inclination, as tech-savvy individuals, is often to envision sophisticated technical exploits when considering hacking scenarios. However, the stark reality is that, in the vast majority of cases, both individuals and organizations fall prey to breaches not through intricate code manipulation, but rather via the art of social engineering. (beating the sh*t out of someone can be thought as an extreme form of social eng.) This comic underscores the importance of understanding and mitigating the very human vulnerabilities that persist at the heart of cybersecurity.

So I checked with Google One support, here is the answer from them: (and they were fine with me quoting them in a public forum)

Q: if I have an email account X and it auto-forwards email to an email account Y , will X be considered as an active account

A: “The short answer will be NO. Google considers an account active if there is a recent login to the account.”

It’s a decade+ long problem asking for a solution. Not just this one site, Amazon, Google etc are littered with fake reviews and none of those companies are concerned.

If these companies don’t get their act together soon, I’m sure the Govt of various countries will compel them to do so.

Fiber comes to my lower ground floor, from there there are several cat6 that runs across length and breadth of lower ground and ground floor. Provides excellent connectivity across the house. Just ensure there is minimal channel interference across various connected routers.

On the topic of negotiations, I would recommend a book “Never Split the difference” by Chris Voss a former FBI hostage negotiator. He takes you through his own experience of handling various hostage situations, salary negotiations etc.

.com is not going anywhere.

Verisign sits on gold with the most popular TLD on the planet. Any registry, if offered a chance, will takeover .com in a heartbeat at any price.

Continuous price increase is unwarranted.

>IMO if you're not paying I can't see why anyone would prefer chess.com over lichess<< For someone like me who has been playing for several decades now, it's the UI of chess.com/app.

It may sound weird but playing a game of online chess works as a way for me to unwind.

I have been playing for several decades now. Never picked up a chess book/video/tutorial in my life (after the initial introduction by a relative). Always played with the flow. I would admit sometimes I do wish I should learn some openings but somehow deep down I couldn't see myself learning chess through a tut. May be some day someone would convince me otherwise, who knows...

and I am in no way a pro, hover around 1600 rapid on chess.com. It says I am ahead of 98.5% folks. Not sure how will this 1600 translate to ELO ratings.
