There are so many Chinese tech companies building models and someone there has to be managing the list of forbidden topics. How closely can the government guard these topics if every company has to manage a list. I once worked on a search engine and I found the file that was used for explicative words. I didn't understand more than half of what was in there.

Reminds me when I was Amazon, one of our tablets was codenamed Thor. We could ask the device what it's codename was and we special cases some functionality for the tablet we built. But it was the same code we used for the android app and it turned out some other tablet manufacturer used the codename Thor and all of a sudden the code was super broken on that device.

Long queues of cars were stuck outside Grand Canyon National Park over President's Day weekend, one day after the mass firing, due to a lack of toll operators to check people in at the gate.

I was there over Presidents Day weekend. The first day I went in (around 3pm) there was zero wait. The second day I went (around 10am), I had to wait 10 minutes. All the booths seemed open. I didn't find this matched up with my experience at all.

The argument I use to convince people is to ask them how long your battery lasts when you’re running any apps, I’ll then ask how long do you think your battery would last if the apps were listening all day long.

I can’t tell if my friends are convinced or if they’re too polite (or disinterested) to argue.

I started exercising (a lot) in the year and found that has helped me fall asleep faster. It doesn't have to be a whole lot either. 30 minutes of jogging or fast walking is enough to do it for me. I definitely feel it on days where I sit and do nothing. I have a harder time falling asleep.

I was very much going to take a similar approach to help train a child to know what the right behavior is. I have four children and it turns out they're all very different in terms of varying amounts of self control. I can definitely with my second one to use it at appropriate times but my oldest is way too impulsive and doesn't have the self control to exercise good behaviors (this isn't just a smartphone problem).

My dishwasher sends the water into the waste disposal built into the sink. If the waste disposal has a lot of food that hasn't been grinded it up, it seems to slow the draining of the dishwasher so not all the food gets drained before the rinse cycle. So I learned to run the waste disposal for a couple seconds before starting a dishwashing load.

Can you explain the mistake that turbox tax makes? I'm wondering if I did mine wrong too

Practically speaking, homeschooling will usually require one parent stay at home. That isn't a luxury that a lot of families have and will tend to be higher income families which usually goes with higher educated parents. Higher educated parents tend to have value education so I don't think there's a risk for them to get a poor education.
