Missing from this conversation is the use of drones as weapons. We’re used to thinking of drones as tools of government surveillance. But ISIS and Iranian backed groups have been using off-the-shelf drones with 3d printed parts to make airborne IEDs. It’s not hard to imagine white supremacist militia groups using them in the United States to carry out terrorist attacks.

Polygraphs are comic book technology. The first one was invented by the guy who created Wonder Woman and they were popularized by a commercial for Gillette razors. It's as ridiculous as determining guilt by batarang or kryptonite. It's amazing we still allow them in law enforcement.

Davis, who now works for Aerospace Corp., a defense contractor, said he gave a classified briefing to a Defense Department agency as recently as March about retrievals from “off-world vehicles not made on this earth.”

Davis said he also gave classified briefings on retrievals of unexplained objects to staff members of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Oct. 21, 2019, and to members of the Senate Intelligence Committee two days later.

You can download from webtorrent nodes as well as bittorent, you can use it without forwarding any ports, and you can start watching a video as soon as you start downloading it instead of waiting until it’s done.

Also, has everyone forgotten that, until relatively recently, half the population stayed at home to raise children, cook, and clean the house? Going from one-paycheck homes to two-paycheck homes and letting daycare raise our children hasn't made us wealthier, happier, smarter, or healthier.

That's "how it works", not "what it can be used for". Regular websites can be designed to handle high traffic. Regular websites can make backups.

What new thing does ipfs make possible that would make users install the software to use it?

Can someone provide an example of a service that ipfs enables that can’t be provided on the regular web?

I think this is good place to remind everyone that your brain doesn't actually remember events. It only remembers the last time you remembered it. Every time you access a memory it's a lossy rewrite influenced by the emotions you are currently feeling and other memories you associate with it.
