Quark 4 was definitely full of quirks and there were plenty of things it just couldn't do. It featured decent keyboard shortcuts, though, which I once relied on daily for newspaper layout — and which proved quite difficult to teach to my successor as, ultimately, I knew them only by feel!

Billing with Stripe 15 years ago

"We're sorry, but something went wrong.

We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly."

I drew inspiration solely from playing along (and doing well) as I watched last night, thus I didn't really consider the potential "studio participant" outcomes.

I'm sure it might give my product moderately more longevity if Ken or Brad win, but the net benefit would likely be negligible given that there is virtually no investment (nor profit) in the product. The good news, of course, is that the inverse is true as well.

Thanks for the response!

I was initially psyched on this (and I still like the idea) but it's not viable for me simply because of the very late timing. (The fact that you can't apply without a Facebook account is a little annoying, too.)

I created this, and it might be a good time to mention that I'm always looking for new opportunities. I'm a well-rounded front-end developer with a sense of humor. ;)

Cute mascot. I initially didn't see the text because I opened the page in a new tab, so I would definitely make something a little more static unless it's triggered by a user action. (Even then, try to provide a bit more incentive to sign up.)

Open Web Analytics 16 years ago

I've got Piwik on a shared host (WebFaction tier 1) and while I like the software, I discovered its limit at one point last week with http://reasonstumblrwentdown.com. (The site had about 25k uniques and 250k actions total.)

It eventually recovered but I would definitely do some research and further configuration before running the package on a site with high traffic. One friend at a news site told me that they put Piwik on its own VPS before ditching it for performance issues.

Whatever you decide to do, I would run in parallel a backup system from a proven and trusted provider — I scrambled to do so with Google Analytics once Piwik died.
