No one should be surprised Microsoft is trying to do their best to improve the Surface and converse with customers. They are great at requirements gathering. However all of this is their job and not solely out of good will. As a huge company that makes grand promises, they are expected to deliver a product that works for their customers. Would you expect any less?

As customers we should care about the best products that help us achieve our end goal. If you absolutely have to give your 'loyalty' to a company, your 'loyalty' should be given (in my opinion) to the company that is predictable, consistent, and reliable.

Jasmine tests are still hard for me to master (especially the httpBackend stuff), so I really really appreciate posts like this, I guess at the end of the day posts like these also encourage me to write code thats easier to test as well. Thanks :D

I'm glad they decided to reward Shubman Shah and I hope for the future this will help set a precedence on better communication and what deserves compensation.

This should be up-voted some more so people can see the resolution. I'm glad you guys decided to reward the bug hunter for his time as well as provide a response.

This is such an outstanding point, like all internet resources there is a wealth of knowledge you can obtain from HN. But you have to condition yourself to differentiate between what is sensational and what is actual fact.

I might get burned for this, but I don't know why people even evangelize posts of this kind. For starters they are off topic. And what is the end goal? At one extreme are you trying to lead an exodus? Do you feel like you're helping people because you're telling people how to effectively use their time? There is such a wide range of types here I don't know how this advice can be applied ubiquitously.

I love HN because I get to see so many great early stage products. I get to hear opinions from all ages that reveal the environment we are in (Young and old developers trying to mesh together, new techniques meet old). I don't really know too many other communities that have what HN has.

Srinivasan is orchestrating a lot of great work with Bioinformatics. In the comments, it's very odd that people think the best and the brightest in SV are only building tools that help give ads more exposure.

But then again I should probably stop reading WSJ comments, and that would also probably get me called arrogant.

When our company decided to stop supporting IE.. I had the best day of my life at work yanking out all of the 'kind of' working IE quickfixes/hacks we had used out of the source code. I couldn't agree more.
