Why do I need to translate my question into an optimal set of keywords that will give me what I want while minimizing unwanted results? Google search was a great stepping stone and connects you with the web, but it’s broken in many ways when it comes to what value we are really trying to extract.

A machine that can hone in on what I’m getting at in an intuitive sense while having all of human data available to generate a response is so much more powerful.

I can't relate to this statement at all. I actually enjoy grocery shopping. I look forward to it every week. It gives me an opportunity to pick out what I want to eat or make during the week. I love cooking and discovering new food, so it's a bit of a hobby. I know its incredibly inefficient and something that I could do faster ordering online, but shopping for food is weirdly nostalgic and human to me. Procuring food, even though it's still within the structure of industrialized grocery, is the last thing in my life that hasn't been completely digitized and I find it pleasantly inefficient and archaic.

I mostly shop a Trader Joes, aside from other specific things I may need at a specialty store.

What's mind blowing is that you can extrapolate where this is going to go. Eventually, you will be able to generate full movie scenes from descriptions.

What's interesting to me is how this is so similar to human imagination. Give me a description and I will fabricate the visuals in my mind. Some aspects will be detailed, others will be vague, or unimportant. Crazy to see how fast AI is progressing. Machines are approaching the ability to interpret and visualize text in the same way humans can.

This also fascinates me as a form of compression. You can transmit concepts and descriptions without transmitting pixel data, and the visuals can be generated onsite. Wonder if there is some practical application for this.

Yeah nothing in the UI is connected directly to a sensor these days. The UI is just a display for relevant data on the CAN bus.

Sensors have redundancies and detections in both sensing and communications so that the receiving end knows when there is an issue and doesn't display false information, resulting in an error code being thrown and displaying a "check engine light".

Because if you for example you held off on buying a house to pay off loans, and the day after you saved up enough for your down payment, your buddy Jeff, who ignored his loans, racking up interest, making questionable financial decisions, suddenly gets his loans payed off and now is competing in the housing market with you and everyone else, and home prices rise as a result, pushing your first home out of reach yet again, you are going to be pretty pissed off.

The real reason here is that the lenders have the same view you have. They would rather lobby the government to force everyone to pay those loans than gamble on getting money back from students who struggle to get jobs with their degrees.

Yeah was going to say the same thing. I've been making kombucha for a while, and I have a process down where at the final stage I blend kombucha from various fermentation stages to get the mix of tartness, sweetness, fruit flavor, and alcohol content I'm looking for.

It doesn't need to be binary. You can always mix cooked sauce with fermented to get the flavor profile you are looking for.

The best, simple, metaphor I can think of is playing out a chess game in your head. As in, you make a move, and see how the scenario changes, and predict the opponents moves. In chess, it's just 2D and one opponent or agent. In the real world you need to weigh many possible agents, estimate their motivations, and predict their responses. This way you can visualize the cascading effects of a decision.

I would be cool to see an example of how a Kalman filter approach would compare in terms of precision and latency. My expectation is that it would be the best of both worlds.

Could be, but not necessarily.

It could also be the result of a logical and intelligent thought process. I think anyone that follows the data and truth will eventually come to an existential break down that reframes their mind. Especially if they were raised religious, but that facade starts to crack.

I think at a relatively young age, I started having existential crises. Eventually I stopped fighting the darkness and accepted a lack of a god or afterlife, and accepted the ephemeral nature of life.

As a result, It motivated me to reframe what it meant for my life to have purpose. I instead started focusing really hard on not making my short amount of time go to waste. I wanted to work on things that had a positive impact on the world, keep humanity evolving intellectually and technologically, hopefully decreasing suffering in the process and more recently I've prioritized building wealth for my future family. We just had a baby and I'm realizing the next important thing I can do is set my son up to have what he needs to make more of a positive impact than I have.

I'm struggling to understand how productivity has anything to do with salary.

Productivity increases are inevitable for everything as automation keeps improving. Salaries go up with demand for skills. If its more difficult to hire for a critical role (a skilled job or competitive), or the role generates a lot of value for a company, salaries go up. Simple economics.

Low skill jobs and physical labor jobs actually require less and less skills as automation improves. In this situation wages would go down. But I do think it's a good idea to have a wage floor to account for the inflation and increases in cost of living. A social limit to what we all collectively feel is a minimum amount of money one of us should make to survive in the society we are building. I think universal healthcare and a UBI would solve a lot of this. Especially as its only going to get worse for people at the bottom.

If anything, by making devices like this accessible to the public, the end result is safer devices for everyone.

Without products like this you have criminals, a small amount of enthusiasts/researchers, and government sponsored actors exploiting vulnerabilities. If you put it out in the open, much like open source software, everyone can do it, but there's more pressure to fix blatant vulnerabilities.

This made me realize that my dad has a specific whistle that he would use throughout my childhood and even today as an adult, to get the attention of my brother and myself if we were out somewhere. Like a "Hey, we're leaving. Let's go"

Even so, how does free sunlight with longer transport compare to the cost of electricity with short transport.

I imagine electricity, regardless of source, is still the most expensive factor.

First thing to note is that DC fast chargers output high voltage DC to the vehicles they are charging, bypassing the onboard charger. So although most are theoretically capable of charging many different cars at their voltage requirements, not all are, and that's a base requirement. In order to even charge the different Tesla models and their differing packs, the chargers are capable of varying voltage and current. So they are designed to be variable, but depending on how it's designed, most likely the vehicle needs to communicate the voltage and current charging requirements for it's state of charge.

Secondly, Tesla's chargers have unique connectors and unique communication with the vehicles. Not to mention, the architecture is designed in a way that no payment, identification, etc. happens at the supercharger. You just plug it in and everything else is handled on your vehicle touch screen and Tesla web account. So really, unless Tesla decided to license the tech and allow other vehicle brands to id and communicate with their chargers, it wouldn't be possible to charge at a supercharger.

...isn't that because people expected things to re-open on that date? All of those businesses ceased operation. It's not because people didn't want to go out. They couldn't even if they wanted to.
