What is really bad here is that we have to vote against a very bad candidate, not for a good one. Hilary needs to commit to certain priorities for all those groups that decided to vote for her - potentially compromising what she has promised so far - simply voting against Trump. Otherwise voting for her is a lost vote...

Sooner or later the ads will come. Even if FB hadn't bought them, that is usually the painful transition most social sites need to go through.
Important voice in the whole discussion around NSA, but forgive me being suspicious - it comes around the time his Kickstarter campaign is to end...
And he got a Nobel price... it sounds like an terrible joke.
They do it because they can and they learned that the public will scream for a few days and move on with their daily problems soon after.
It's sad, very sad. I am pessimistic and I have an impression looking at how Obama and co. are lying without any consequences, what NSA has being doing and other recent examples, that we lost that war and we have no tools to fight against it.
my bets...
1. GoPro-camera viral ad... 20% 2. funny joke... 10% 3. this is real ... 70%
damn... the track record of incredible, but fake videos in the recent past makes me feel skeptical, but I wish it was real
btw 0:57 the tracks on the grass.. look suspicious ;)
First of all this is a reaction to polls giving the ruling party a significant drop of acceptance within the young people, who have always been the strongest support group for them.
Second thing, let's don't be naive. Tusk knows very well that what was there to sign in Japan, has been signed. It's to late to stop certain things, it's all cold thinking about the popularity and the party has to be punished in the elections anyway... although the alternative is still terrible...
Can't fully test the free vs. paid as "we are closed for the 2011....", but I am not sure how uncomfortable was it to go free option versus paid (eg. big site logo on the free printout). Maybe the free option should be slightly more painful to make users consider paying?
Great initiative! I reckon the demand will boost shortly...
Where do you want to get to after 8 weeks? Would the "students" be ready to take junior RoR jobs straight after 8 weeks in your vision OR do you expect it will take longer?
9.99 per month ?!?! Good joke
Hi Mike,
I love the initiative and using the opportunity... what is your opinion about my recently launched project http://www.mindthebook.com and what would you change to make it a better user experience?
Cheers
Because Michael Ellsburg's (the author) new book has just been launched we get this pretty old article on the first page of HN... sort of crap.
The article itself is interesting, though.
Being a non programmer I try to build my first web app in RoR, but as I am learning from scratch it will take some time. Any others starting from scratch here?
On the other hand I am completing a project I am really excited about, a long kept idea, using external developers, which I hope to reveal in June - http://www.mindthebook.com . Stay tuned.
Great post Chad, people thinking or already starting startups have to wake up and stop believing that if every second article on TC is about another funding, that there is already money waiting for them.
And with regards to Nobody / Somebody.... this post, might get you closer than you think to Somebody ;)
Good luck! You have the right product. Think what's missing...and is it really money?
Nice idea. Topic will always bring hot debates, but glassdoor is doing a pretty good job.
Apologies for a bit off topic, but I built a bit different site in Poland, where you can actually vote on salaries for job offers based on the location / job content / role / company name (if known) for job offers from various websites, where in salary field it says "atractive" or "high" etc. Have a look http://www.jakapensja.pl (in Polish)
Good idea to increase sales of his previous books. It would be good to know the PR costs, but I guess it must be a few thousand british pounds.
The point I like most out of the story is that there is still space to get viral with really limited budget. Creativity and having a plan is key.
