For many years, my wife and I would end the year by filling out a YearCompass (yearcompass.com) booklet.

The booklet is a fantastic resource with thought-provoking activities and questions that helped us start each year with intention. Oh, and it's free!

This year, being new parents, we haven't been able to prioritize it.

So, I thought I'd create a GPT to make it easier to have that reflection through a simple conversational interface.

What is the most meaningful lever to help increase women founder representation?

This is a great question and something I've been thinking about as well.

IMHO, the most meaningful lever overall is improving representation in VC.

The most meaningful lever that I can act upon, as a male technical founder looking for a cofounder, is to look for women founders to partner with and women investors to join my cap table.

Recently, I did find and reach out to some folks on angels.vc - a women-led community of accredited angel investors.

Consider that the ability to concentrate without distraction on hard tasks is becoming increasingly valuable in an increasingly complicated economy.

I agree with this particular sentiment but I don't believe that "deep work", as Cal Newport calls it, requires us to turn off social media or other forms of less-deep work altogether. Certainly, we must balance and control our usage of social media. Certainly, we must be more than just consumers and create tweets/posts/blogs/etc. These mediums can be great ways to give back to the community.

when most consumers want to find something, they do a search. for that most go to google. they dont go to the economist. they dont go to HBR. as a result, if search is done right (quality results), free high quality web content will be found, read, shared, and read again. but there is no loyalty built there for the news source's brand. very few publications will get the status that the economist, wsj, or nytimes enjoy.
