The additional feature that FEMU provides us is Vulkan support, which allows you to interact with a GUI.
On the team, we use both. For example, I know many folks on the Zircon team prefer vanilla QEMU.

I was really excited for this, I want to buy it and am willing to compromise for 1st generation hardware. But no NFC means it impacts my life substantially, from payments to public transport. I hope they reconsider the lack of NFC for the next generation.

This is based on a cursory examination of [1], so I may be off-base. But Xen appears to rely on the host for many things that can be, and often are, hardware accelerated in KVM. Searching for CONFIG_XEN_PVHVM, it doesn't appear to cover much.

KVM can take better advantage of hardware acceleration than Xen. Xen requires a modified guest, which traps back to the host more frequently.

In general: it gives a process a huge amount of flexibility in terms of how it sets up its own address space, communicates with other processes, and in how it can communicate with the kernel.

That's some pretty anecdotal evidence. Just as anecdotally, I have heard to the contrary.
Fair enough. You know you can pay for some of those services and not get served ads. You can also disable ad targeting and history in various apps. This, understandably, disables some features due to a lack of information to operate, but it may be much more palatable to you. It may be worth considering some of these options, if you don't like targeted advertising, which exists to serve you more apt ads.

Sure. HCI encompasses, and is heavily motivated by, cognitive psychology.
My personal view (as a computer scientist) is that you shouldn't call yourself a "user experience" designer unless you have a background in cognitive psychology. Otherwise you're simply a designer.
I transition between morning and night, and it's basically getting into a consistent cycle. If you get out of bed at the same time every day for two weeks, you'll alter your cycle. The main idea is: don't go back to bed, get out of bed, take a shower, go for a run. DO NOT go back to bed.
I'm going to guess it has more to do with the deal Microsoft made with Verizon to ensure their phones used Bing instead of Google. And with the large amount of Android phones being sold with Bing, this will inevitably eat into the market share. This could also explain why Andy Rubin now wants oversight of customised Android distributions.

IMO I think it's because people don't believe there's a good Honeycomb device available, and that the platform might not be quite ready for primetime.
Apple tend to come out swinging, they deliver tools to developers months before, have a solid platform on day one, and excellent hardware. I think dealing with a heterogeneous hardware platform makes it that much harder to deliver such quality out of the gates, especially when you don't control the hardware.
Having said that, there appears to be a minimum spec for hardware, and so far vendors have not deviated substantially. Still, the Xoom's subpar reviews have not helped the cause.

I'd argue that it's not search at all. It's ads. If you make things free, then your competitors have to also bring their prices down or remove all cost. To then pay for their service, or augment their revenue, they need ads. Which Google can provide --- possibly at a greater monetary value, with better tools, and farther reach than any other ad provider.
