Some banks in India have a separate “transaction password” that’s required to operate on the account vs just login and view balances. It’s not a rotating token, but it’s somewhat close to what you’re suggesting.

I use my own domain for all email, but as I age, something that has started to concern me is the longevity of email going to my domain. No-one in my family is very tech-savvy so it's entirely possible they don't know to renew my domain and will end up losing all my incoming email as a result. In this sort of scenario, a big provider like Gmail which will clearly outlast me seems more reliable to pass on this account. Has anyone formulated a plan for someone inheriting your email account?

Have you tried a password manager? Many of them will autofill the code for you. It makes it quite seamless.

Password managers that have HIBP integration are open about it - one says "this password appears in a list of compromised passwords"

I'm very excited for this. Does anyone remember the Sony Vaio P series of laptops that had this capability? You had to insert those huge cellular adapters. It was such a dream of portability well ahead of its time.

While I agree about the awkwardness of the phone, I’ve found my Apple Watch to be extremely convenient as a way to pay. Simply double click the side button without needing to look and tap it on the reader. Doesn’t get easier than that. And like someone else said, it makes having many payment options available without fattening your wallet. Costco for example, only takes Mastercards in canada and I don’t use the master card anywhere else

I last tried it in January and I was on the latest of everything - OSes, apps. I said this to the poster above but the straw on the camel’s back for me was when I realized hitting the edit button took me to the wrong entry and that I have unintentionally overwritten a bunch of unrelated passwords on the iOS app. Re: sync, I ran into some issues syncing between the safari extension and the iOS apps that resulted in some sort of reconciliation issue. I was already downgraded by that point though and not in the mood to investigate.

Hmm, maybe I’ll give it another go in a few months. I last tried it in January and immediately regretted the upgrade. Probably the most glaring issue for me was that the edit button opened a different item than what you were viewing, and resulted in multiple unintentional password overwrites.

Version 8 has been plagued with various bugs with editing, scrolling, sync and stability issues on the Mac and iOS apps. It has become extremely difficult to rely on, and really the only path back to stability has been to downgrade to 1Password v7.

I’ve actually found that this is not the case and that while the learning is enjoyable, it’s very difficult to retain, especially if the result is a low maintenance server. A decade after I set it up, I will most certainly have forgotten how I set it up in the first place (speaking from experience).

I absolutely think that exceptional service is possible - for example, when I visit a restaurant with my elderly grandparents who have some extremely particular dietary restrictions, and the wait staff patiently discuss our options, help them create a meal that satisfies their preferences and remains interesting, I find that exceptional. I've had wait staff give us genuine recommendations on the menu, with honesty, indicating the dishes they don't like (much more rare) as well as those they do resulting in a good meal - I enjoy that candor and am happy to tip for the recommendation. I've also had staff stay late and keep a restaurant open because we were on the last train into a station with nowhere else to go and eat and didn't speak the local language - I found that exceptional as well.

I tried the Prince of Persia but it just loops on the intro. Wasn't able to get to the game.

I felt this way for a very long time and have made similar choices. I simply can't get myself to consistently go out on runs, or work out on gym machines. That said, out of sheer chance I discovered an enjoyment of powerlifting and swimming and I've been able to keep those up, and even look forward to doing them. Perhaps it's a matter of finding the exercise you can tolerate.

Perhaps call your old number and see if that person is willing to share the code with you?

I've discovered the game Mini Motorways on Apple Arcade recently and this has opened my eyes to how much more efficient roundabouts are in traffic management :) I've been enjoying the game a lot! It's a very enjoyable thought experiment made into a game. If you haven't tried it, I'd recommend it.
