I realize I'm being pretty pedantic here, you're right that spend $100/day requires massive usage plus buying moderately expensive weed. But it's not, technically, impossible.

I spent my whole 20s severely addicted to it without even realizing, and when I had to stop I felt like I was going crazy. Couldn't sleep, couldn't think, couldn't eat. It's really better to nip it in the bud.

Baden-Powell scouting is co-ed, non-religious, and founded in the 70s. Boy Scouts of America is the 'original' version, and, as recently as 15 years ago (I think some of this has changed since) explicitly excluded atheists, girls, and gay kids. BSA leadership is (or was, I think this has changed) heavily influenced by conservative Mormons.

Also, they culturally appropriate the fuck out of Native American culture. Think white suburban dads dancing around with costume jewelry and plastic headdresses dancing 'native style' dances to 'commune with the Great Spirit of the land'.

At Google at least, if you stay low level for too long, you get fired. If your team is full of low level people maintaining a project that's stable, you need to invent work to justify your existence.

I guess you could switch the process to "promo after N years of not being fired at your current level" but that seems even worse.

Ex googler here, and when I was there 4 years ago this was true of L3 and L4. My entire team was L3's and L4's. We spent literally all of our time on projects with no meaningful impact on the company, but that made for promo packets.

I'm the same way. I've never understood people who work all day and, at 11pm, casually mention that they haven't eaten since last night. If I even skip breakfast I can't get any work done until lunch.

Completely agree with this. Me and some other friends were legitimately excited for Google+ when it was released as beta but couldn't get an invite. By the time it went public nobody cared enough to fill out a profile.
