Am I missing something?

There’s numerous videos pouring in of individuals going into local businesses to harass and threaten employees while flaunting they aren’t wearing masks.

These individuals likely don’t represent the majority. But it doesn’t feel like just a few bad apples.

While the high price of an A7 probably slowed new customers rushing to Sony over Olympus I think the primary reason customers stuck with Olympus was "vendor lock-in" with lens mounts. People likely bought multiple m43 mount lenses to go with their Olympus or Panasonic. A customer would be more likely to buy another one of these brands if they had an existing lens collection over switching to the A7.

Note: I am reluctant to use the term vendor lock-in as the idea behind m43 was to have multiple camera manufacturers adopt a common lens mount. The fact that Sony and Canon have their own mounts is a net negative in my opinion.

Quick search on Apple store (Canada prices):

Watch series 540mm, sports band, gps + cellular: $659 AirPods and regular charging case: $219 Combo = $878

iPhone 11 = $979

You could pick different models to make either case true (eg. iPhone XR is $799, watch series 3 cellular is $429). But nonetheless watch + AirPods is pretty close to the price of a phone it seems!

Are you sure about that? On an iPhone I can delete three of those apps (just verified). Android doesn’t allow the same?

Do a lot of first year computer science students get paid $75k/year?

I know internships can easily earn that but my understanding is they go to 4th year students.

The impact of this charge is much greater than $500k. How much in fees did he pay lawyers to get the plea deal? What are the chances he will get hired as a CIO again? This has significantly long-lasting impact on his life and career.

Maybe I am overestimating what he earned in a year. Tried a quick search to figure out what % of his take home income this was.

I am not sure at what point I would start to consider 4 months in jail for insider trading “worth it” (again this was a plea deal, could’ve been higher).

If all your personal wealth is tied up in a single company’s stock then you obviously run a risk of losing it all. The solution to that is diversifying your portfolio, not insider trading.

This came to mind as well great suggestion.

I haven’t used MythTV in years but I remember it being quite decent at commercial detection. Sometimes it missed the boundary between show and commercial by 1-2s, but otherwise was great.

(I bet they check for volume changes as one of the algorithms)
