How does one reconcile the idea that KiwiFarms is guilty of unspecified crimes that threaten lives and require emergency intervention, but also those alleged crimes aren't urgent enough that authorities would prosecute them? Is that entirely handwaved by calling the whole of U.S. law enforcement "transphobic / homophobic / white supremacist / right-wing"?

As this submission shows, cybercrime is prosecuted in the U.S.

If you want to claim that they do, then you should provide some evidence. Preferably not in the form of circular references to unsourced blog posts/articles.

Sure, but that's an issue with those websites, not the law. The law doesn't mandate to have a fullscreen modal that says "We value your privacy" with a big button that allows all cookies and myriad tiny buttons to disallow them individually.

If websites choose to sacrifice usability to be able to fingerprint users, that's on them.

Outreach groups work as a lobby; They're the ones who need to call organizers. They can't just cultivate a pool of speakers and then wait for conferences to call on them. They're the ones who need to reach to both parties and connect them.

Conferences publish a call for participation and wait for speakers to submit their application rather than the other way around.

Wouldn't it be better to leave outreach programs to outreach groups? This is a conference about programming and "single responsibility principle" is a fairly popular concept there.

That's because the developer's OS support is outside of Vivox's prerogative. They tried to change the developer's plans because they couldn't fit in them. If their reply had been something along the lines of "We don't support Linux and can't help you with that" I'm certain most people would be fine with it.

Their original reply makes me think of a hotel that can't accommodate a family of four so they suggest you leave the kids to the grandparents and go on vacation alone. It solves their problem, not yours.

This is [uncanny valley][1] applied to voice. They intentionally made a voice that listeners can't quite identify, and it ends up feeling unnatural.

For a long time, ABS and airbags were as extras as well. The difference is that a consumer shopping for a car can decide how much safety they want to pay for, while air travelers have no idea how safe the plane they are going to board is.

I had the same feeling a few years ago when the sharing economy was the next big thing and people were prompted to subrent their flat, guest room, tools or car. Depending on who you'd ask, it was touted as the best (or the worst) of capitalism and communism combined.

Those specs mention producing half the competition's amount in optimal conditions, which I assume means 99% humidity. They don't actually say at what humidity level and temperature their product can deliver that much. They don't give any specific numbers at any specific temperature, only the machine's operating conditions and the upper limit on what it can produce.
