I used to do that (and there are out there many commented lines on old projects that are still active).

Now, I backup the source file somewhere for archive, run multiple tests on the new code, and make an obligation for me to deliver a cleaned source file, with no other comments than the one needed.

It's more clear when you go back to your code to not be distracted by old thoughts.

Isn't the point of an internship to continue your formation ? How comes companies making the same tests as for recruiting for real jobs ?

I had interns back in the day I had an office (and not working from home) and I always made them work on basic tasks under my supervision. Once I had one woman who was very good, and she worked on a website that ended in production, but most of the time the purpose was to work on internal projects that can be used even if not perfectly polished. You know, stuff you always say you're going to do some day, but you don't.

The advantages were on both sides. They learned real life cases, under my supervision, and I had the tools I didn't.

Well it's not a secret, but it's not obvious for most teenagers. And may be not either for people without high degrees education.

A lot of people, and I suppose not only in France, are not at peace with their body shape, even if they're not obese nor anorexic. Been exposed to not really existing bodies images can be painful for self esteem.

Of course, computer modified photos are recent, but fashion already used lightning and tricking exposure when producing photos from film since, well, the fashion press exists I guess.

The first time (years ago...) I had to enter my birth date on a website that asked it to me for no valid reason, there was a default value. It's now my birthdate on every others !

There was an episode on The Soprano (no mafia/pizza pun intended :-D) where Tony tried to visit a prostitute he was "in love" with.

She was not there, but her roommate, also a prostitute, from Russia (or an alike country I don't remember), with one fake leg, was.

As he was complaining how miserable he was, she starts lecturing him of how Americans people have stopped having real issues, or living in life threatening situations, and so they invents themselves new ones which looks ridiculous for people coming from less developed countries.

For me it's exactly that.

And don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly aware that there are people in deep trouble in America, homeless or not wealthy enough to treat nasty diseases right.

And this is a first world problem you can also witness in some European countries too. Or cities, not necessarily while countries.

It's like we, humans, cannot bare to go through life being just happy.

I use Facebook essentially as a RSS feed for bands I like since a concert I missed of one of my favorite band in 2007. They were playing in my town and I wasn't aware of it. Since then they split so I'll never see them live.

So I started subscribing on my bands Facebook pages to never miss anything again.

Those white board stuff reminds me when I was a CS student in the beginning of the 90's in France.

We had our exams on paper. And believe me, writing LISP on paper, knowing if you forgot one parenthesis you got 0 point ("if I type it on a computer, it fails !"), was pretty and unnecessary stressful.

So I relate with candidate facing that. Dude, on your day to day work, you WILL have a computer to check those !

As I, as a European citizen, perfectly understand that FBI mission deals with internal US, and so the OP option is an internal point of view, wouldn't it be also wise to deal with it on an international way ?

Of course, with Putin and Trump, two strong virile personalities, dialog might seem hard, even impossible.

But any way, instead of trying to deal with it internally, "forcing" (and I honestly have no idea how it should be possible) American social media companies to be more transparent could be a breath of fresh air in this situation ?

Yes, I read something about that subject in a recent HN post, with the religious opinions for homeschooling.

But in France, that's really irrelevant. All the recent terror attacks have been perpetrated by persons with a public school education.
