Do you plan to open source or sell your Email to ledger / ERPNext solution? I actually plan the exact same thing for my use cases...

Your app will be held back by requiring to create an account with email and password.

Most of the users just use "Login with Google" or other well known OAuth providers and also want to try the product before creating an account.

When I switched from user / password to OAuth I couldn't believe how many users choose it. I could deactivate traditional user & password login and nobody would notice it.

If profit would be reinvested it would be zero and not negative - there is no profit to be reinvested - they need fresh investor blood from time to time ;-)

The site has ads, so their intentions are obviously to make money with ads ;-)

I can't really agree with the testing part. I worked with many projects where I came across Issues which definitely could have been prevented by more automatic unit / E2E tests.

I imagine the engineers who wrote the code for the Boeing 737 MAX MCAS or the Tesla engineers who accidentally wrote log files to the internal flash thought the same. Maybe another team member could show the author why these tests are important...

The Issue with these two explanations from the board is that this is normally nothing which would result into firing the CEO.

In my eyes these two explanations are simple errors which can occur to everybody and in a normal situation you would talk about these Issues and you could resolve them in 5min without firing anybody.

Cool, but I looks like the creator didn't really look deep in the competition. Many of the question marks in the comparison table can be replaced by a checkmark.

There won't be much discussion about that in Germany because it is old news. Every German knows that and this is not the first incident.

We have political killings here. The Russian special services are active in Germany.

This quote is the reality. It is well known that we have Russian, Turkish, Iranian and other spies here, political killings happen from time to time and sometimes we even have terrorists registered as refugees because our Government has no IDs from them (this happened back when we had many refugees from Syria - some of them were IS-Terrorists)

They have a contact form and it's quite normal here in Germany that you have to contact the business first before you can download the business software.

All in all most normal small IT companies I know in my area have a similar looking website.

Which makes it more unserious is that one of the Managing Directors has done shady business in the past.

I use beancount for my personal finances and Odoo as well as ERPnext for my company.

ERPnext is my favourite while Odoo currently supports the taxation in my country (Germany) a bit better...

That actually happens. There are just not enough statistics about that because nobody cares.

I remember a documentary about a part in China with a very high suicide rate - mostly because people couldn't find a job. Another example would be the Irish Travellers - a community which has it hard to find a job and has a way higher suicide rate than the rest of the UK.

That housing and groceries is getting more and more expensive certainly doesn't help with that...

Of course, not so many people in this world suffer anymore from hunger but in the last years additional problems came up.

I know some older people who think that Depression is just a excuse for not wanting to work but these older people had it easier to build or buy a house than my generation - so I think more that the rising Depression in many is a symptom for an live which gets more and more difficult and them not being able to deal with it.

That's one of the reasons why I started journaling back in 2018. I started trading with stocks in 2014, made some good gains but forgot how or why I initially invested in a specific stock.

I mostly started journaling to analyse my own thought process in a later stage. I am now 27, started my own company last year and hope that my desendends one day can use my journal to see what things worked and which didn't - that way they may have it easier in their own life as they will know what to avoid and what can lead to success.

I see it as a way to accelerate the trial-and-error process and this thought that it can be helpful for future generations of my family is something which motivates me more than anything else.

For me, Screen Time is enough. I would be more interested into an Android App for that. In my experience, the Android Settings (Digital Wellbeing) are not so polished for that and not available on every phone (only Android 10 and higher).

Isn't e.g. ChatGPT trained on data all over the internet? That means even if you upload your code to GitLab or your own public Gitea instance, it will still be used to train AIs?!

I don't see the point of this because quite frankly - if you want to prevent AIs using your data, you already lost that battle in the moment you uploaded your Code to the publicly accessible internet.

I don't want to go into detail of all my APIs as most APIs are very expensive for commercial use and I see getting a really cheap one as a business secret.

I also created multiple libraries for fetching business data from official government sources (e.g.the SEC)

I try to get most of the data directly from the source and plan to launch a different product which will resell it.
