I've been saying since Covid, retailers have figured out some consumers aren't as price sensitive as previously thought. WholeFoods doesn't need to cut prices, but the lower tier grocery stores will really feel the cutbacks.

yea I'd +1 this. It's a real blindspot in the author's writing. I don't think you can write about meditation in the US without mentioning IMS. Headspace and all the other mcmindfulness apps that start with "focus on your breath" are all derived from Insight meditation. I've sat IMS, it's an incredible facility.

Maybe I'm overstepping, but I think 1. you're right 2. that it's driven by insecurity. I've experienced many instances of people trying to "protect their knowledge" so to speak by hiding behind jargon.

I was a refugee of the Great Digg Migration to reddit some 14 or so years ago. old.reddit and adblockers as well as very aggressive curation of subreddits have kept it to an overall positive experience over the decade.

I think overall I'm just less enthusiastic about the internet; everytime I come back from a week or two of backpacking without internet connection I realize how overstimulated with inane bullshit we all are.

This is why I'm not a consultant. It's a generalization, but there's a kind of learned helplessness almost in the culture of the big4. No, I'd agree with this. Your AEs / clients always want it done as fast and cheap as possible. I enjoy the variety of problems and clients, and honestly sometimes find working with our SWEs a bit pedantic. I have a Get Shit Done attitude.

I would say, the top maybe 5% of Sales Engineers/SAs (whatever you call them) do have a very deep expertise in one area and those are the folks who are trusted to get a deal done. I've done defense tech, adtech, and now databases. I've been the time to really go deep on databases and that's what I'm building my career around now.
