This is the best kind of recommendation letter. Who knows you more but yourself?

College degree is only worth for high income positions like surgeon, medical degree, nursing and some engineering field (chemical?). It's just not useful for middle class income like teaching etc. But good luck in trying to get an interview without any kind of diploma. They will think something is wrong you.
I love my Netflix subscription but absolutely hate their app. And to think that their software developers are among the highest paid in the industry! I fondly remember the old days, when they give is a long list of shows in a list from top to bottom. And you had an arrow to move your titles up and down. No fancy images and auto-play and atrocious design
Professors generally have academic freedom to try such stunts to get into media. But still seems like a pointless experiment in a philosophy class. Anyone know why colleges are not more focused on getting kids ready for working environment?
Great. Now fire all those business analysts and replace them with software programmers.
Uber, unlike WeWork, is offering something the market really need. I see a viable path for them moving forward.
Disgusting. This is not right. The government shouldn't get to decide who gets INTERNET and who doesn't. Freedom of information is human right. You cannot keep the government honest if you don't get timely information in timely manner.
This is business as usual. Nothing will change if executive doesn't get jail time. I'm surprised that Boeing hasn't' been sued yet for the Lion and Ethiopian crash.
Maybe because of this --> Sandberg may no longer be the female icon she once was to the outside world, but she remains the second-most powerful executive
Tell them no. You may be fired but then again, I think it's worth it to not give up your app.
Student loans program should continue for highly sought out program like medical, dentistry, computer science and others. But there are degree like physics, history and general education that doesn't have great employability. The university here will take all the money they can because at the end of the day this is just business for them. Students sometimes will take the easiest course because they can
Spending time with kids can be very draining and exhausting. Not all the time that you are spending with them is quality time. Also, since parents don't need a degree or a whole lot of experience, this is an indication that childcare is only a minimum wage job unfortunately. Also, kids really like to spend time with their own peers and doing group activities. They don't care if you are not with them all the time
Child care is expensive but I rather pay for someone to watch and look after my child at a daycare center then doing it 24 X7. Taking care of the house and children is just mindless, time consuming and exhausting, It doesn't give me the satisfaction that I get when working with something that requires a degree and talent.
I'm thankful for my family. And for not living in one of those mafia run country where you don't have any freedom of speech. I'm thankful not to have religion force on me. I'm thankful for having well stocked supermarkets so I can easily feed my family. I'm thankful that our police and sheriffs are not our enemy or used as a tool of suppression. I'm thankful that when our news organizations get disgusted with corruptions and wrong doing, they sometimes exposes the rich and powerful. I'm thankful for a fair judicial system where you are judged fairly. I'm thankful that good people exists in the world that still takes care of one another.
Yes, I was in the job market recently. It is absolutely devastating how terrible the software development hiring process is. There's almost no job in the world where you are humiliated so much and goes through such an agonizing process to proof yourself. I'm a mother of a small child, and don't have that much time to work on creative puzzles or study so many entry level computer science stuff that only a 'fresh graduate' would know.
Wework business model didn't make any sense. Why wouldn't market favors competing landlords for rental spaces since that will ultimately brings the best value for customers? Also, we definitely don't have a protection for employees working in a startup like companies. Since our political system currently favors the job creators, it's best to take them to court and so you can get your side of the story out.
Yes. You need to give credits where it's due.
Management here doesn't like remote employees because they cant order them around like they do us. Also they don't like the fact that those employees don't stay in the office longer and are not bonding with other people here.
Now, if only Google can remove the apps that can be downloaded and installed on youtube video interface. Those pesky apps can be install even by little children.
Any reason why Larry Ellison is still running the company?
Do you know what is happening to their cloud offering?
I think the best thing happening in the recent time was when Zuckerberg was summoned by Congress to testify. It just opened our eyes that political advertisement and buying influence on social media is not only cheap but being done actively by groups whose members are not registered to vote in the USA. I'm told that this is also happening in other countries.
I don't understand the WeWork business model. Landlords are all around you. Companies sometimes prefer to own a property rather than lease because over the time, you only lose money renting. Explain pls, how is WeWork different than all the other commercial landlords?
I understand that companies need to do everything in their power to maximize profits. However, we as concerned citizens should also not 'enrich' these companies by continuously supporting them. We are simply lucky that we are living in a relatively free world when so many are not.
This article reminds me of a documentary on Netflix about how we prefer to grow surpluses of lower quality wheat crops in the US that has higher yield output. I wonder if we will ever go back to quality as oppose to quantity ….
I've been fascinated by Sanskrit because some of the words sound so much like old english/germanic. There need to be more study done on indian languages because there have just soo many of them and every region has their own dialects. It's as if the tower of babel incident happened over there.
Disappointing ruling. This will encourage other universities to discriminate in the admission process however they see fit as long as they claim to use 'diversity' as a measure.
I think this is an important distinction. If something should be unhealthy for consumption then it has to be because of ingesting it and not because of how it will impact the market or environment.
I liked what the moderators and their teams did to make SO and SE sites interesting to read by keeping away lower quality contributions. But at the same time, I don't think think the sites were very welcoming to newer members/contributors. Recently, I have started visiting some of the microsoft sponsored forums/developer communities. They have no problem if the exact same questions have been asked many many times already. The use of downvotes button should also be minimize. Rather, a short reply to something you disagree is actually quite friendly. Downvotes can sometimes hurt someone feeling because you have no way of knowing why he/she is upset at what you posted.
I agree. As a female software developer, I would like to see those ads so I can get better jobs. If I don't even see the ads, then I would not even know about opportunity. Without opportunity, I cannot really progress.
If only men see the ads, apply jobs and get interviews, then the employers may think that they shouldn't advertise to women. This is just circular thinking.
