Ahh I see. I wanted to avoid using the word debate, because I found it made people think of everything as plain serious.

I tried to exchange that word with "battle" but that isn't as descriptive as the word debate. I'll defiantly have to change that specific sentence so it clicks easily.

To be honest I had the idea that we should simplify that phrase. One shouldn't have to be confused by the 5 words that describe the website in a nutshell.

Thank you for letting me know what you think I really appreciate it man! Thank you

hmm, We answeed that question before with

> It's simple, Fennce is a Web app for "Conversation on controversy"

does that sound better?

We are torn on this because we did'nt want to limit it to just plain kinda mainstream controversy. It could be anything that involves two sides. So we decided to add perspective there to make it seem less limiting. Maybe just saying "conversation on controversy" is our better option.

I like the direction in which your taking things. I feel that your work.. is just a good herculean effort away from being very mainstream.. I just wanted to comment to let you know.

Keep working on it man, It is looking good. there may be things that are off (from what I can tell) but I also can tell that your well on your way to having a very nice polished product.

I agree with josh.

Why not explain a little more.. furthermore I would limit the choices between View plans and Try for Free. People don't want to be reminded to out shell out money and work better with fewer options. It is hard to imagine early case scenario of people skiping straight to the paid plans, let alone using it in the first place right? The first priority is building the user base i'd say put the view plans button in the navigation or somewhere else and just have a big fat "try it!" button. If people are interested and like your product they can Evangeline and actually go to a paid plan.

So them why! (I think you can incorporate the plan selection in the "try it" process also if you must have it there. But make it a little more inviting!)

This is Great. I was going to ask what direction you were going to take this in.. but it's interesting that you only have jobs listed for/at really startup companies that most geeks want to work at. I'd say you should drive that point home a little more if that is what your focusing on.

Otherwise, yeah dude take it to the next level. Keep reaching out to add more of them.. I'm sure you can be well known for offering jobs in this space.. great quick clean idea!

Well one important thing I would have to say is to first pick a style!

It's easier to mature and gauge your progress when you choose a style and then mature it progressively. The through constant practice and maturation, you willl become better at the process. Both a drawing with great detail and one with lack of therefore can be drawn by the same "talented" artist.

I'd say the three basic places to start are typography, proper padding, and style (which can be use of borders, rounded corners, sharp edges, or minimalistic as long as it's consistent). There defiantly is always a style that can be identified with each artist's work. And even with someone with the greatest portfolio you can usually identify elements that reveal the artist art work. So what you will have to do is iterate and experiment with the above until you develop.

1. A style to commercial (or your) liking.

2. Basic sensibility when it comes to web design or your relevant project space.. the sensibility changes with the medium at least to a small degree (design common sense).

Just like you use your judgement to decide to at least a small degree who's advice is worth listening to in this post, you need to build that same common sense up for design. I suggest doing mini front page fake products up to build up your skills. When you get better at that (you should notice significant improvement after 6-10 projects) try to go a little further and create an FAQ or about page for that product with that style it will become alot easier since you've already gave "definitions" to how some elements should work and the overall spirit of the project.

(One thing to note is it helps to have at least SOME Photoshop and Illustrator skills, at the very least you might want to add some texture to your products and custom gradients. IMHO it's alot easier to get great work out when you can over kill the project. Just barley getting through it with hard "Crusty the clown" colors will bleed your project. This is coming from someone who taught himself good web design)

I'd be glad to show you my latest projects for you to judge for yourself. Hope this helps.

It looks great alot seems to be in place and it's obviously well thought out. The two things I would consider is maybe re-wording the header, I think the objective of that was to fill up the empty space with bigger words, and then have the smaller text as a description. It seems most of the big text is just fluff I think you so reword it to include a quick pitch of what it can do via iphone/website/logo mockup-wise.

Furthermore maybe the process to go signup could be one click faster if here was a signup button on the home page.. instead of a "login button/ see pricing plans button" I mean the pricing plan button works as a sign up it just doesn't say so.. maybe that is just me I clicked the login button at the top right since usually the login/signup is at the top right.

Good luck with this project!

I would defiantly pay.. just like i pay for any other service I enjoy.. if I would like to continue using the service or for the service to grow it needs support so why not.

If I don't care about the service then of course I won't.

I like it I think it's defiantly an awesome job for a weekend project. I'd have to agree maybe you should add a little more to the description (that it only works with last.fm). Although I can clearly see your interface is similar to backtype there.

Looking forward to what you can do next weekend! I'd like to see you mature your logo a little too, although it looks great even now. =P

Hey Eiso,

So yeah what I am about to say here assumes that "find a new home" = reinvent the idea/ Breathe new life into it.

You know there is a saying about how one doesn't pour new wine into old bottles.. they put it in new ones! Even so, I think that what you guys did when twitter startups began to heat up was awesome! It was an opportunity and you took advantage of it. However.. I think the general problem here is that your missing the vitality incentive factor.. aired with a chicken and egg problem (the whole brands advertising won't really happen with out the people.. then in turn the charities won't get anything.)

So the solution is simple.. It all comes down to what you believe in. Whatever it is that you believe in for this.. the idea needs to mature to give proper incentives for people to take part.. also it should have ample virality included (you had that going with the @twollars thing.) problem is i don't think people may have clearly understood why they were doing it.. and then furthermore.. how much are the charities getting for the effort of tweeting that out.

What I think about the way things should have worked out is something to the tune of.. Business --> Users --> Charities instead of your current model deal (Users <--- Business --> Charity).. which also looks kind fuzzy it should be easier to grasp.

So my point is if it were something like Businesses sponsor the process with their products (like free service/software/products) let's say per month.. then users pay to be part of the process.. in which their money goes to charities. then at the end of every cycle users win products from the businesses that participated. Now the only thing left would be to find out a systematic way to get twollars involved for instance you can have a set number of charities that are in the event for that month.. in which different prizes are available from the business sponsors and one could @twollars to a specific charity to spread awareness? to be honest the most difficult part of it seems to be the implementation of the @twollars making that meaningful devoid of money/incentive will be difficult..

Furthermore you have to give incentive giving out more twollars.. it just does'nt seem convincing enough to me unless you add some means of tracking twollar karma on your website through various means and then using the karma (gained by spreading awarness/activity/positivity) to get rewards from the business sponsors.

/end wall of text

What exactly where you thinking about?

Hey CVG.. I know that it's tough starting a startup and at this point you feel that you have done enough work to consider feedback. I can only really comment regarding your interface.

That is to say regarding the process someone has to go through from beginning to finish to use your product (in any degree).

As you can see from the feedback you've been given.. even with people that have set out with the intent to look at your website.. there is little to no patience for the explanation.. or the product/service.

What I would do is cut out alot of the fluff you put in the homepage to "fill" it up. Then add the content on the "start now" page onto the homepage to remove that unnecessary click (something like what your competitor http://33banners.com/ has done but keep an explanation on the homepage) . After that Remove any duplicate call to actions (I can see you have at least one, and also the bullet points to the right may be mistaken for call to action buttons).

Finally maybe ask for any user sign up information at the end of the process.. using the time they invested into your website as incentive to sign up and revive the rest of their "shizz". Otherwise i'd say it is looking good can if you keep working on it.. it can mature into a very painless, alluring process for people who want a quick banner ad.
