I mean a month shutdown isn't much of a punishment. They'll go back online, run their staff over capacity, and neglect cleaning and maintenance all over again.
If we're going to follow that reductio ad absurdum, I live in a city why not just take the bus? But walking is only a few miles, why not just walk? Don't buy a house because it's an inefficient waste of space, resources, and energy. Live in a studio apartment under 300sq ft, enough for a bed and a desk. Buying food seems unnecessary when I can have planters and some chickens out back.
I like the Mustang, electricity where I live is already generated above 90% by renewables, despite transit my quality of life is improved with a vehicle. The environment is a nice side effect.
I would really like to buy a Mustang EV, but I don't want to pay the $20,000 above sticker the dealership is trying to charge at 7.99% interest. Not a mystery why these things aren't moving.

Teams is probably the worst communications app I've ever been forced to use. Extremely slow, random crashes, almost impossible to organize chats in a useful way, and outages as the cherry on top. I would have thought that Microsoft would put more TLC into a core part of their enterprise offering.

That's a bit of a false dichotomy - just because they follow Sam Altman doesn't mean they can be incompetent. OpenAI was successful because of the rare mix of leadership with a vision and competent workers to back it up. Sam leaves, the vision dies. Workers leave, the product dies.

Apple could just unpair parts when the phone itself is reset/deactivated. And new genuine Apple parts could at least have a one-time automatic pairing when signing in with your Apple ID.
Stolen phone? The phone is still activated, part can't pair with new phone. Not perfect, but at least somewhat less anti-consumer.
I'm sure they've upgrade since then, at least Windows 98 SE.
I had almost an identical experience, except I was local to Ottawa at the time. Literally a full day of back-to-back interviews. They asked which languages and technologies I was comfortable with, and then gave me a pair programming session with someone who didn't even speak to me, in a programming language I wasn't comfortable in, leading me to have to look up a lot of syntax. Radio silence for a week, then I called the original recruiter and they just basically said "no."
Maybe I'm missing something, but since all GitHub events can be watched through the API, I don't think it particularly matters how long it was public. Anecdotal but I once accidentally pushed an AWS key (thankfully heavily locked down and not a root account) for all of 30 seconds and it was compromised anyways.
Target was a bit more complex, a combination of issues with logistics and blindly taking over basically all of the locations of Zellers regardless of analysis meant they expanded quickly with not enough product making it to shelves, and not enough customer traffic.
They carried fewer of the products you'd come to expect in an American Target store. Also due to this cost, the prices weren't more attractive than established incumbents like Wal-Mart.

Same experience. Poor quality items, confusing dupes with different prices, not particularly cheap compared to other retailers. That said, their customer service was great, likely at great expense to them. Often they would replace an incorrect item without requesting the original be returned, and in one case they shipped a family member the wrong item 3 times before finally sending the correct item. They were told to keep all 4 items.
I tend to buy a new car every 5 years, my next one would be coming up in 2023. If you asked me in 2020 I would say a Tesla Model Y, not a chance of that happening now. Lots of great alternatives with less of the social stain.
Circuit breakers do degrade after being tripped. Once usually isn't enough, but repeated tripping will wear them out.
I cut my subscription at the end of 2021. The comfort shows I'd watch from time to time were leaving to other platforms, and Netflix was pumping out so many originals that it would take forever to find a show I'd like, then they'd go ahead and cancel it after a season or two.
The nail in the coffin was the price hike - in Canada it went to $20.99 for 4k streaming, for something I was rage watching maybe once a week. It's just not worth the money to spend so long hunting for content, only to be disappointed.
Maybe once the carriers are forced to adapt, but in Canada they don't support them on most eSIM capable devices. Swapping an eSIM requires an app, entering values, waiting for the swapping process. Whereas a physical SIM I can just pop out and pop into another phone.

Pretty much yes, can't force people to get mental health help, can't force people to quit opioids. People who think housing and access to mental health and counselling programs will solve the entire homeless crisis are incredibly short-sighted.
Anecdotal for sure, but a couple of my friends have had parents who were addicts, even when they had the love and support and housing options of being with family they chose to stay on the streets, unless they decided they needed to rob a family member for some more spending money. Spreading subsidized housing out doesn't work, addicts will just hang out closer to their dealers/sources on the streets. Putting up highly concentrated housing programs just make this problem even more dense, creating a radius of exceptionally high crime.
Even in the most idyllic scenario of creating perpetually well-maintained and totally free housing, many will end up choosing the streets anyways, out of convenience, mistrust, or mental health issues.
Gross, always before taxes in Canada at least. Taxes vary by province, less confusing to not include any deductions.
But why does it have to be that way? They ship off-the-shelf RAM and SSDs in the Framework fully or partially assembled kits. They released CAD files and drawings for their module system. They actually sell replacement parts for other components, much like an OEM automaker does. If my touchpad dies I'd rather be able to swap it out with a new $100 part than buy a whole new $1500 laptop.
It's a new company and have not been tested yet in terms of backwards-compatibility and ongoing inventory. But just because you can't swap parts in most laptops doesn't really imply that you shouldn't be able to.
