This is hilarious delusion. Not only does America apparently hate AI (lol), but for the first time in a very long time, the American public has apparently managed to successfully mobilise and oust politicians! Plural! and a large enough number to be noteworthy!

It is genuinely lost on me why tech nerds specifically have a hard time grasping the idea that they are not the only people that matter. That sometimes, someone will know that something will upset computer nerds, and will still do the thing, because they see it as worth it overall.

I find AI-assisted development to be quite enjoyable. I’ve logged many, many years of full-time development prior to LLMs hitting the scene. By every indication i’ve been given, I am very good at my job. I do not do this job for the money. I wouldn’t be caught dead anywhere near SV, both physically or spiritually.

I am not a rare exception or anything. My whole team is like this. I work with many people that’re like this. There is no shortage of voices speaking to this online. You’re in denial.

Drop this “you probably just don’t love the craft if you aren’t on my side” BS. it was old six months ago. It’s inexcusably ignorant now. If your view had such merit you wouldn’t need to be this intellectually dishonest. Accept that different people are different.

This is patronising. We know what macros are. There’s benefit in general, adaptable tools, even if some tasks can be accomplished with something more rudimentary. That’s not the point. Hell, the software that you’re so proud of writing with vim could very well be superseded by someone using an LLM to do it in a worse, more wasteful way. But it’s the tool that’s there, and it’s the tool that they use for everything else, and it more easily ties into their workflow.

Intellectually dishonest comment. Kim Dotcom got done for illegal distribution. It’s not about “illegally downloading”. You can pretend all you want that it’s the same thing as these AI companies, but it’s not. It certainly very well may be immoral, but to act like copyright law as it currently stands in spirit or in reality covers this scenario we’ve found ourselves in, is a complete and utter lie.
