This is the most riveting real-life drama in history, and it's unfolding before our eyes. I want more stories on Snowden, not less (although my productivity will surely suffer).

Besides, half the stuff that gets voted up to front page is regurgitated anyway.

That said, anyone who is a friend of animals is a friend of mine.

Snowden has awakened the whole world to the surveillance leviathan that is the US. The US have been the one world government for awhile now, it's just that most people (and countries) refused to see it until now.

The C&D to the Bitcoins Foundation is no surprise either. It's in the cross hairs of the US government and it can't be allowed to exist. Read the book Cypherpunks and you'll find out why. I'm sure those in power know the book well.

I switched smartphones, from iPhone to the BlackBerry Z10 which has built in encryption. A friend was teasing me that drug users use BlackBerry (for said reason), but according to the US government we're all guilty until proven innocent anyway.

I also got the hell off of all Google products and Skype.

Has the switch been a hassle? Somewhat, but I'm unable to ignore the fact my communications are being read, recorded and stored to be later used against me.

I think BlackBerry maps has global reach (and BlackBerry is a Canadian company).

Maybe Google has a business relationship with the NSA. It's likely the reason Google hasn't added encryption and never will - the boss doesn't want it.
