I have been looking for good note taking for a while and this seems to tick all boxes, but I want to know at what price. Spent good 30 minutes going through their website and product hunt launch and could not find any mention of pricing = totally lost me. Replies on product hunt a very "robotic" and marketing oriented eg "Thank you for feedback, enjoy 3 days free trial!" but very little substance, and still no mention of pricing.

Very cool! I built something similar for patent application about 5 years ago for proximity image encryption. Idea was that image was split into X number of encrypted pieces each still being a valid image (disorted or something custom). If you wanted to see the image again, you had to be in close proximity to other parties that have these parts. BLE beacon served as the proximity for the prototype.

Hardly you can call that proficiency. All they have to do here is to clone and push. Sorry but I tend to test git knowledge more in depth, maybe this level is enough for other projects

IMHO trying to educate companies about their process is a sure way to failure.

Also doing interviews before technical challenge is a sure suicide for companies. In my experience to minimise the waste of time you send out quick and easy technical challenge (no more than 30 minutes!) and you filter out 90% of applicants. With remaining 10% you have a phone call and if you have more than X (magic number of 3 in my experience) of qualified applicants you send out more thorough tech challenge (no more than 2h long!).

Rinse and repeat until you get to X applicants which you will invite for face to face interview.

Truth is that almost no-one in tech is qualified to do face-to-face interviews. Either they are not on the level technically or dont have the communication and HR skills. Interview in person is mostly to see if you are not dealing with a weirdo and if that person will be a good fit for the team.

A side note, I tend to issue valuable response to every candidate. If you do that, they are very likely to re-apply, step up when someone drops out or recommend to friends. People tend to do/say the same dumm stuff so you can prepare those replies as well.

Finally someone using their head instead of just blindly speculating. SQL keeps history of commands as well. Plus if this company is so "advanced" that they use some kind of SQL procedures to send email, I am sure there are plenty of other audit trails they can follow to verify where the message came from.

All-in-all, the fact that he mentions he exploited security hole in his company and then calls it "SQL thing" screams at me: FAKE

Very nice re-design, but you wouldn not be my choice to get tickets. You should invest more time in getting best deals. I am looking to travel next march from Beijing to Prague and on your site this trip starts at $650 while on other places I get get tickets as low as $530

I am sorry but make a study where you let 10 people meditate and 10 people not (I am aware that the numbers are not correct, just don't want to read it again) and then observe who is willing to give up seat is downright laughable. It has nothing to do with creativity. I imagine that the mentioned professor thought "Ok guys we need to do something new, meditation is now getting popular lets take a hit on it ASAP." There are two things that really irritates me about this:

1) The fact that they based the outcome on giving up seat for someone. They could as well give them a gun and see who is willing to shoot someone. it has NOTHING to do with meditation. What they should test instead is work productivity, energy levels, sleep habits etc. those are factors that are supposed to be influenced by meditation. But why didn't they? Well because it would require a hell of a lot more work. Why not just do the one with taken chair? ... lol

2) The fact that this article is published by New York Times. This "work" should not get attention from big publications in my opinion.

I cannot believe that people are actually paid and getting popular on base of this kind of experiments. I mean, unless I am missing some crucial point, the results are just some random numbers that can point out only the fact that not many people have manners to give up seat for whoever needs it. And even that statistic is useless as it would have to be performed on many more people in order to have some solid ground. I wish I would have gone study psychology really. Lot of money and exposure for something that could be performed by primary school pupils...

2) Overtime - I am in similar situation myself. Working for a startup with over 30 staff. I haven't been asked to work overtime but it has been mentioned on many meetings - "We want to create team of people who would enjoy this work so much that they would work overtime, I mean come on we are startup people should be working overtime anyway". Please note, this is BS. Doesn't matter if you work for startup or corporation. At the end of the day, you are employee working for your own live and that means 8 hours for which you are rewarded by salary. It is completely illogical to limit your life by working overtime and get paid like any other person in other company. Yes, sometimes I enjoy current project so much, that I forget about time and leave work few hours later, hell sometimes I even open my laptop in the middle of night ad work on something if I really enjoy it. But overtime should NEVER be expectation. Your answer to them should be: If you expect me to work overtime on regular basis I expect to be paid over time rate for it or some other reward (such as share in company).

Just one more note about developer position in general. Doesn't matter what people say, developing is very creative job. It comes and goes in waves exactly like art, music and such. I am trying to actively fight for changing developers conditions in workplace for this reason. Take for example my job. I work 9am - 6pm every day. But there are days when I just don't get the vibe and I do all together 1 hour worth of work and lousy on top of it. Sometimes work goes well and I am into it whole day, but then I finish one part by 4pm and just cannot get myself start anything new til 6pm. In that case I should be just able to go home at 4 because I am no good for the rest of the day anyway. Same as now, it is already 8:24am and I am still at home writing this comment instead of being in subway on my way to work. I would do the same in office anyway...

Developers should have much looser schedule in my opinion. On the other hand of course every developer should be responsible and if there are (reasonable) deadlines they should know how to work hard to meet them.

So, just to sum it up. The page you open is a web store in china, known for NOT selling fake things. Yesterday, Google glasses magically appeared on this site. The charge 20 000 CNY (roughly $3200) . They claim that it is real original from google and if you are not satisfied you can exchange them. They supposed to have 10000 pcs available and shipping starts after 14th of March...

Some of the points in the article are valid, but some have been valid decade ago and are outdated today. For example taking care of users who don't have javascript enabled. Before I continue, let me make straight that I actually do consider it when developing and I do make sure everything has fallback for those people. BUT. Even though there is a percentage of people who still browse internet without JS, why would we care about them? Those people are mainly people without any interest in modern technology. And old technology does not require JS. I know it sounds harsh, but the technology is evolving and some (many actually) project are running purely on JS these days. Why would we hold these back rather than encourage people to enable JS? Instead of supporting lazy people and publishing articles about caring of NO-JS people, let's push them to actually update themselves to what is new in the world. For that, simple message "This page has important JS components so you cannot fully enjoy it" will do jut fine. This applies for many other web stereotypes.

I am not sure, I might come out strong, but I a feeling all these stereotypes (and fighting them) a bit more than for example author of this article, since I am developer in China, where the situation is... Well you cannot imagine until you try it.

So to sum it up. All developers - keep in mind to support as much as you can as painlessly as you can, but do not publish articles about this, cause you just helping people to stay lazy.

Awesome, this kind of things really amaze me. I'm just curious what are the possibilities once they have everything scanned. Yes we can probably cure some disease or fix some stuff, but that's kind of old news, I am more interested in what they can actually do. Can they upload new language into your brain? or what else?

I would like to put aside the fact about DRM and how I do not agree with what it represents. What upsets me here, is the article it self. It is very sloppy, no thought in it, no details. Basically worth of a tweet. I would really enjoy if people would put more time and work into what they are publishing.
