Edit: I can accept that kite plans can be on topic for HN. I also don't mean to stifle anyone's curiosity about kites or kite building.

I suppose I expected something more akin to "Kite Plans, Experiments, Observations, and Results that SoAndSo ran" or "Specific Kite Plan and Notes" to be linked on HN.

I enjoy kites and have used this site before, but what makes it worth the front page of HN? It's nothing new, their site hasn't really changed in years, and it is somewhat off topic.

Was the poster just fired up about kites? Am I missing something?

I didn't find this article very thought-provoking or useful. A developer with an interest in entrepreneurship would have come to the same conclusion - "Should I use my skills to build a business? Yes"

Instead, the article seems to be a vehicle to collect affiliate commissions.

There isn't an (obvious) account with that name, but twitter doesn't let me register it. I don't know if it is a blocked keyword or private or what.

I'm a fan of namevine. I use it when I'm brainstorming projects or figuring out names.

As for a pro feature - I think that notification when something becomes available or a domain/account marketplace might be useful.

How do you get the pictures transferred to the pi?

I like this. I've been thinking about a lot about software to help improve workshop efficiency or to design interesting things.

The arrow keys move it. Not quite automatic but easier than the mouse.

That does sound fun.

Interesting concept. 2 Pieces of feedback. 1) it takes forever to spawn new blocks and the movement animation to run. 2) Ability to kick off multiple block movements at once. rather than waiting for it to complete animation.

Looks like it could be really useful. How difficult would it be to replace the audio to a live stream? Or for that matter the background as a live video?

SF apartment rent for a studio perhaps. This is a house, a hanger, offices, a runway, and some metalworking supplies. How much is that in SF?

When I saw this post in was on the HN at item #186. I would never have found it without my browser's HN infinite scrolling plugin.

Sure there are some cases where infinite scrolling are a pain. Trying to get to a footer, losing your place, and the sometimes blurred lines between your content and other content make the usability poor.

Those issues can be figured out and I'm sure they will be.

This is great and I intend on giving it a shot to accept bitcoin in the near future.

I would like to see it as an option to keep bitcoin rather than having it automatically exchanged to USD on my behalf.

It would allow people to assess their own risk tolerance if they wanted to hold bitcoin or if they had other services that work well with bitcoin.

My friend and I launched our service last night.

We will record a video note to someone you like on your behalf (anonymous if desired). It's a video service for secret admirers.

We built the entire thing last night (11/19/14) in about 5 and a half hours from conception to implementation. If we sell any, we'll go about polishing the page and making it better.

Todd Bol of Little Free Library gave a talk at TEDxFargo [1] last year. After the event I had the opportunity to chat with him a bit.

This topic of book quality degradation or opinionated materials added. He mentioned that while people do put in weird books or those with an agenda, you do curate your own library. More often than not, people will quit putting in junk after you clear them out a couple times.

A lot of times where there is an unregulated shelf for book trading (in hostels, bnb's, some community type centers) you do end up with low quality discards. Somebody needs to be responsible to weed out junk and add make additional books available.

The nice thing about it is you can curate it to your interests or whatever is relevant to your community. In the talk he mentions a cooking based library with a herb garden that you can also trim for the recipes. He also talks about ones based around children's books and interests.

It is in no way a 'set it and forget it' type of project. Some work in curating the materials is required.

Great job with this project. I would try striking some kind of affiliate deal with sites likeImgur or get advertising on a meme subreddit. $25 might be a little high for an impulse tsirt buy, but it could get some hits.

Personally I thought it was going to be skewed a lot more towards the top developers. It looks like there is a lot more success based on the numbers. I found it somewhat motivational as I enter into iOS.

That said, I'm looking to supplement my current income rather than replace it.

Setting the pricing that way makes sense. With my apps, I have just done the conversion from USD to local currency and rounded them to (psudo) psychological price points. Little to no regard was given to the local value of the currencies.

I might just have to play around with my pricing a little bit, although I don't know if I have enough traffic to justify all of the conversions. Could be a fun project to test out.
