Agree. I almost never watch them when posted in comments. Sometimes if it’s a main article I might.
Java has a lesson of what can go wrong with types, just as parent says. That example is dates and times. So many types…
And before Java finally settled on what we have today, we had 3rd-party libraries like jodatime that tried to fix it.
I guess it’s in a good state today, but it took a LocalDateTime.MAX to get there. I mean an Instant.MAX. No, I mean an OffsetDateTime.MAX. No, I mean new Date(Long.MAX_VALUE). Oh wait I meant new Timestamp(Long.MAX_VALUE). No, I mean LocalTime.MAX.
I’ll stop now, but i could go on.
I’m in the USA and have a Tenda WiFi usb stick. Not as popular as other brands but they are around
So it was undiscovered for 16 years until now
Publicly undiscovered
Cardinality is the easy way to resolve this. If the data has a cardinality of 1, it should be an attribute. If cardinality > 1, it should be a child element/node.
Loyalists were gone by from America by the mid-1780s.
I found it interesting that you used the term European several times, but never once the term American. He served in the American military, lived in America, had an American father (according to the article).
So you consider 19th century America to be Europe, or is there another reason for your choice of words?
How much does corporate espionage help them?
He could have sold those printouts instead of giving them away.
Experts have beginner’s mind.
Great story. Had no idea. Still love the name Uwe. One of those German names that doesn’t have an English equivalent unlike, say, Pieter.
the more they will tend to gradually pull that into some homogenous abstract equilibrium
I experienced this with resume editing. The LLM removes everything that differentiates my resume from a pile of junior engineers with “average” experience. Anything that was special or unique or different was eventually replaced with generic stuff
Of course I didn’t use what it produced, but it was maddening because the LLM kept insisting this was better than what I had.
I found LLMs to be much more useful in suggesting edits to very small chunks of my resume (a sentence or three) rather than the overall vision of the document.
You may disagree with Freud, but he is responsible for mental health therapy becoming a socially acceptable practice in the West.
Where does he mention “without Robux”?
It’s not debt bondage in Roblox. It’s company scrip
The CEO does not say it’s a horrible idea. The interviewers say that. CEO says it’s “brilliant idea”.
In case you don’t want to watch the video: his answer is yes BUT he needs to figure out how to do it legally in the different jurisdictions that control kids gambling.

Is it possible that one day certificate expiration will be a thing of the past?
Brendan Eich’s contributions to computing are immeasurable. Your opinions of his social or political views don’t change that.
Do you not use Linux because you don’t like Linus? He’s quite a controversial figure. And before you say Linux is not Linus, the same can be said about Brave and Brendan.
Many other people work on these projects than just the leader.
Do you not use JavaScript because you don’t like Brendan?
what are you doing with all those extra milliseconds you claim you're saving?
Watching more ads.
Do you know how many “mights” and “may not” are in your post? A lot.
You “might” lose half your investments after working 16 Hour Days for 20 years to a divorce. You might get hit by a bus.
Nothing is promised except for this moment, right now.
Future humans will be part human, part lizard, part zebra fish, and seveal other species. We will regrow teeth, heart, and limbs. Sometimes we might accidentally grow a tail.
Even as late as 1978, an informed observer could still consider interest in personal computers to be exclusive to a self-limiting community of hobbyists
WHAT? That was true even well into the 1980s.
Clarification: he is not interviewing to be hired for a job
Wikipedia says the international date line is “a cartographic convention, and is not defined by international law.”
The “line” wasn’t a convention at all in the 16th century so how did sailors experience loss of a day?

I prefer a visual design that brings me joy
This sounds like a marketing-speak. Joy is not an experience gained by staring at the visual design of a browser. You are confusing joy and another experience, perhaps appeal or attraction.
If you genuinely experience joy from browser visual design, you are probably that same guy who experiences “delight” when a customer support representative treats you well on a phone call.
