Hypotheses are made for a reason though. Science is still about finding what's true, and ruling out what's not is part of the process/method for doing so. Sometimes all the alternatives to the truth are ruled out and we know the truth. Scientific revolutions happen sometimes, but they still need to explain everything the old theories explained. The newer theories may still be wrong, but in different and hopefully fewer ways. It's important to keep the scope of what's been demonstrated/tested in mind to not be misled about what truths have been established. Newton's physics is still largely true within the scope of everyday experience, for example.

BugMeNot Is Gone? 4 years ago

I was hoping someone would know why it was blocked as malware, thinking it might be compromised and that people should be warned. VT says it's safe though so it's likely a mistake. Not sure what you mean about traceability. You could check the github.

I don't think that would break it because you have a limited amount of time. You base it on 1/e of the number of people you expect to date not the number of potential options.

If you want to avoid fingerprinting you should use tor-browser. And using a chromium-based browser over tor makes you more fingerprintable, not less.

I'm still sore about Reader too. Fortunately Inoreader is about as good.

I'm surprised thumbing things down isn't helping you - it was the thing that fixed YTM for me. I wasn't thumbing things down enough, now anything I don't want to hear again I thumb down, and I mostly listen to the personalized and discovery mixes. You might need to switch/reload stations for it to take effect. And IIRC the discovery mix only updates on Wed.

VPN by Google One 6 years ago

Snowden's revelation that the NSA was in Google's network had their engineers pissed, and they immediately changed their architecture to make it more secure, encrypting internal connections. That doesn't make me want to use them less. And Snowden was compromised by Russia even before he went there.

What does the VPN log?

In order to provide peace of mind for our users that their activity is private from the VPN operator and from potential attackers, VPN by Google One does not log user activity on the network or other information that could reveal personally identifiable information about them. The following data is NOT logged by the VPN for a given user:

● Network traffic, including DNS

● IP addresses of the devices connecting to the VPN

● Bandwidth utilized by an individual user

● Connection timestamps by user
