The bottom interactive graph is kinda neat. Setting zero friction and minimal spring tension and gravity center turns the whole thing into a spheroidal structure much like the accretion of objects in space.

Animals do not grow as fast on grass. Also, they do not taste the way Americans like their animals to taste. Land availability also plays a factor as it takes more acre per animal using grass vs corn/sugar.

It's not that ship spinning is some preferred activity in Eve, it's simply a preferred activity vs. Captains Quarters (CQ). The problem with CQ is that it did not run very good on most machines and the movement of the characters was very stiff. Also the load times to get to CQ were longer than that of ship spinning.
As far as the item shop, it turned out that a monocle cost around $80 after converting isk (in game currency) into real money via the purchase of plex (Eve supported gold buying). The items were grossly over priced which made CCP seem like a desperate broke evil corporation with which the player base has lost most of it's trust with.
As far as the direction of the game, with the introduction of a long awaited feature, Captains Quarters, that was not even completed upon release, it made it seem that CCP was not willing to listen to the wants of the player base in which direction they should devote their programming hours. Plenty of activities in Eve have not been updated nor has the game play had an injecting of new and invigorating play style in a few years. With CCP's latest move, it has made me and other players think twice about investing more time in a game that the developers seem to no longer care about.
Free only works if everyone participates equally. If just one person is lazy, the system crumbles from resentment.
Money does not create inequality, it simply is the scorecard to show the inequality of those people involved in the system. In a system not corrupted by greed and theft, those with money are simply people that work harder, and/or smarter than those who have less money.
What basic right is that?

I've always been curious about this. If electrons are spheres and so are protons and neutrons, what type of matter is filling up the area in between? Are protons and neutrons not spheres? Can electrons get squished into different shapes depending on arrangement? Or, does there even have to be matter in the voids surrounding adjacent spheres?
More and more people have been bringing laptops to some of my classes. I find the clicking keys to be very annoying. I'd go nuts if the whole class typed their notes.
While the safest, the waste will be with the Earth for a long time to come. Longer than any corporation will be around, or government agency. There has to be a clear cut plan to deal with the waste of nuclear power that accounts for it's life span, and possible natural disasters. Currently all waste is stored at the power plants and the only current plan is to encase the waste in concrete. But where to go with that concrete? How to label the concrete to make sure future generations know that it is dangerous? How to ensure constant security and safety of the waste? We cannot move forward with nuclear energy until the problem of its waste is dealt with.
I've never had a reason to go above 60wpm. Just like reading, I see the words in my head and choose not to break that barrier.

The problem lies in costs. A monopolistic company keeps costs down due to scale. Any other business cannot enter the market on a competitive level because they cannot meet the same price structures.
That's awesome. I'm glad they are giving the users more options. I searched for how to bake a cake to finally block ehow from my results. How good that feels. Trash sites are about to feel the sting I imagine. That reminds me, need to block about.com too.
I'm curious how higher gas prices are really going to drive alternative fuels. If gas prices go so high that alternative forms of transportation are needed, that will also constitute a massive switch in infrastructure. With gas prices being so high, every facet of the industry will be facing higher costs from transportation.
People will start feeling the pinch from their own transportation along with food and other items as the industries shift the costs to the consumer. In every corner of the market, high gas prices will have an effect, so how is that the market will become ripe for electric cars if for starters, the cars are still expensive (most people needing loans ), and prices for everything are going up?
The idea that there is some golden era when gas hits 5-6$ a gallon and electric gets a large chunk of the market just seems absurd.
Well, it could be fair if we practiced natural selection based on intelligence vs. good looks.
Wow does this ring true to me. I'm working at wal-mart for gas money while going to college. I had a customer call and complain and I had to go talk to management. Such a scary ordeal since I need this job. I have nothing to fall back on, with no gas money, no degree. My fate is in their hands and that is the most sickening feeling I've ever had. But this is temporary. When I'm done with college, wal-mart customers are going to get a piece of my mind since I won't be worrying about getting fired.
The guy is right, when you have everything to lose at the slightest mistake, you don't take chances.
While I agree with your overall idea of removing extra classes from high school, you do realize that most graduates need at least 2 more semesters of English? Plus the failure rate of College Algebra is pretty staggering.
Sad to see this in relation to TED talks. The TED site has a great deal of integrity so seeing someone hack a person's twitter account is disheartening. No matter the cause, taking someone's account just to prove a silly point is wrong.
I would think that it should not be too long before Khan like education is available for every topic sometime in the next 100 years. Once these topics are available, I see distributing these videos to every child in replacement of national school. It's probably overly optimistic to think this could happen without having politicians infecting their ideology into the material but whatever, it's a dream. I would love to join an organization interested in doing just this if there was one.

I think I have roughly 10 sites that I visit on a regular basis. The other sites that I hit are links from the top 10. I only go there long enough to read whatever article there is and close the page. I rarely use page 2 of google search unless I'm tracking down an answer to a problem I'm having.
I would say that yes, the magic is gone from the internet, but in it's place I am left with a fine tuned experience where I don't feel that I'm missing out on anything.
You might have something on the curiosity front. I don't find myself searching out random stuff that much anymore. Instead, I seem to rely on websites to tell me what is interesting. I think that realization is fairly disturbing but probably a trend overall for everyone.
I would think that it has to do with finding the corollaries between words from each language. It would simply be the way a person has, by a side effect of learning two language, trained themselves to think differently than most people.
The ability to receive information about one subject and relate it to another has always set people above the common straight line thinker.
So does giving the homeless small amounts of money perpetuate the problem since they don't save it? Would larger amounts be able to help them achieve some sort of first step? Like enough money to rent a apartment for 3 months which gives them a chance to get a job vs. enough money to just buy a meal?

Hard to tell if this person didn't simply walk into the event completely hyped up on a female gathering walked in and saw men and put up a wall immediately. From there did she simply see everything from a biased view because she was disappointed in not attending her hopeful venue?

Just moments ago I finished studying for a quiz on Wednesday over jellyfish and earthworms. I'm trying to figure out why I need to be able to dissect and name parts of small and microscopic organisms instead of writing my report for my Environmental Techniques class. One of the few classes that I actually feel will prepare me for my future career because of the experience I will gain in writing scientific reports vs. essays. I will have also spent time using field equipment that I will most certainly use again in just a few years. I feel that only 10 out of the 25 classes I have to take will directly help my coming career but there is no other way for what I want to do.
I believe college degree plans contain large amounts of fluff that do not advance a students needs to get into the job field. It used to be that a student took college courses to make them a better person. But I've seen over the years in my own school years that teachers no longer seem to care or bother. My biology teacher is a self identified lazy ass that frankly hates teaching freshman biology, my geology teacher speaks exactly from the notes, and in the only class I care about, Geographic Information systems (a computer class) I know more about computers than the teacher does.
