Moore's Law will ensure the cycle will come back. When a smartphonesque device can robustly house your private cloud. At that stage the brick and mortar warehouses will have to offer other solutions than just enabling cloud services.

In the past you piad the printer and mailman for distribution. Now you pay the networks for a "channel."

Guns could seize a warheouse and burn books. Guns can storm a server room and delete files.

Joomla and Drupal think of it like Python and Ruby, in the sense of: the same thing but fundamentally absolutely different. I would say Drupal is better. But it doesn't really matter, either is fine and will get the job done.

If the site is not very big, consider Wordpress. For one reason: the community and with that mainly the pulgins available. For example there are WP plugins that do the whole conversion for mobile for you or do SEO for you. It really depends on what the site should do. But Wordpress can be easily the best solution.

Now, all that is moot, to a level, because all these CMS have nice importerts/exporters, so you cannot really make a big mistake that will sink everything.

If however, the site in question is bigger a site than just "a website", consider Typo3. It's a beast. It's cool. It may not worth the effort for a small shop, but if the site has enough size, try Typo3. Beast!

Everybody feels something. It's just that most people don't realize what it is what they are feeling. But subconsciously they feel a difference. And that diference may (or may not) influence the buying decision.

That's not a career choice, that's just something you can do as a web developer, like HTML and basic CSS.

Question is where you go from there. Another language/stack? Domain knowledge? Projects guy? etc etc

The difference? YouTube didn't loose anything. Facebook looses it's iconic brand: the white on blue 'like', that is just positive and teints the whole FB brand positively.

I think that one founder had an array of reasons to leave China. This was not the only result of said array of reasons, which infuriated another founder. Regulations were met. The stimulation our brains get by beeing in nature is very important for us.

When you are outside and all the little, tiny millions of natural information tidbits that are coming from everywhere, they are important for our mental health in general. Outside, look at the waves, at the leafs of trees in the wind, bugs humming around and everything. Those pattern are important.

In the confines of our cities, which give us solace on other levels, and the simplistic abstractions of our GUIs, which we love, these natural stimulations are lacking.

May I suggest to you to go outside, hiking, kayaking, paragliding, stuff like that, regularly and often?

Take a walk to the nearest park every day, look at the trees for a while.

Do something physical - start a martial arts or so.

On a personal note: I hate it too. Working out is so dump, your brain is empty while doing so and that sucks. I know. I am not a "jock" by any means. I am bored by it, I understand.

The workers were bullshitted by CBM and didn't get it:

You are talking about (philosophical) values. This is a value judgement:

A solution to this would be to work for an agency whose leadership and positioning is compatible with your values.

For instance an agency that focuses on clients who sell outdoor equipment for hikers, bikers, gliders and so on would be compatible with the values of someone who thinks it is a good thing when someone goes on a hike.

There is another aspect I would like to add to what your wrote. The minimum effort required to win new business and the resources required to do business.

I give you a specific example, I think it makes the point: a graphic designer who went from consultant to freelancer.

When he maintained the consultancy, he also had to keep an office and act as a project manager when third parties got involved. He also had to present for the whole project team. He also had to have a marketing and sales process going and he had to talk to non-technical people.

As a freelancer: none of that, just a laptop and a portfolio website. Of course he had to advertise in his network to get new work and he had to work more for to make the same amount of money. But he had a lot less responsibilities now, which for some is just the better life.

What I have read somewhere a long time ago, is that the chronotypes are actually functions of the inner clock in so much as that you either have an inner clock of a 23 hours day or a 25 hours day. (Compare also to leap year etc)

So this then makes you somebody who tends to wake up earlier each day or later, depending on your inner clock.

I found that explanation more convincing. I am with you, we haven't figured it out yet. But I would say, there is something to it.
