Well, I'd say any person with a bit of practical experience will understand that the way BBC (one of the most influential medias in the world) policies are set is not by hiring people and letting them work based on high morale criteria. It's impossible (without an AGI :) ) to reproduce all the features and bugs in something as complex as MS Word, so import/export will never be perfect. Just have a look at the "standard" docx format specification.

IMHO there are two reasons this is unlikely:

1. MS has always been the king of "on paper" features. That was an important reason back in the 80s and 90s for Word, Excel, PP to win the market.

2. MS Office is by far the most profitable software product in the world, while Libre Office is not the coolest open source project. Which means a lot more developers on the MS side.

Any way there are gonna be big changes in the near feature. Either the current progress in data, energy, etc. will stop/drastically slow down or in a few years will have what it takes to build AIs and move planets around.

A year or so ago I was contracting with a military supplier. The company makes rugged Windows CE handhelds and was looking at jumping to Android. $15 per device was the quote they got from Google.

I have no idea who this guy is, but often "alternative medicine" is very effective. In poorer countries it's often performed by smart professionals, who are using experience accumulated over centuries or even millennia - what plants help what conditions, etc.

The high level politicians and bureaucrats are clearly maniacs when it comes to power. IMHO there is no doubt that all information that can potentially be used in a power struggle, such as Rapiscan scans, is not destroyed, but stored by some government agency. Those scans can be used to reliably identify tents of millions of people.
