If something is bound to happen, I think a better way to spend energy and money is to prepare for it. I disagree. Windows is still a very capable operating system. Is AI nonsense annoying? sure, but so are the ads on internet and only a tiny fraction of population uses adblockers.

Consumer buy laptops and smartphones, not operating systems. As long as there is no competing consumer product, Microsoft is not losing any meaningful share anytime soon. imo smartglasses might be more of a real threat to windows than copilot.

Here in the Netherlands, Macbook Neo is €700. That is by no measure a cheap laptop. Also at this price range there is plenty of competition from companies like Asus.

Recently I built a gaming PC, and I ended up installing Windows. Disabling windows AI features is significantly easier than dealing with small but frequent annoyance of linux distros.

My work is 20 minutes away which consists of a 10 minute walk and a 7 minute tram. I also get free lunch at work and since I'm single, it's also the only place where I can talk to people in real life in the weekdays. Furthermore, my gym is also next to my office. Safari and Chrome V3 blocker are much more privacy friendly since the extension does not need to access the entire DOM.

Only emissions per capita counts. Just because those countries have more population than entire continents of Africa and Europe, does not mean it's their fault.

USA emits almost 8 times more emission per capita when compared to India. Rather India is so poor, that it must increase it's energy generation by any means possible.

So an Indian on average consumes just 1/8 of a USA citizen.

Not many people know this but India has the most arable land in the world despite being a smaller country than Canada, Russia, China, USA, Brazil [1]. India has even more arable land than entirety of EU. [2]

While the article only briefly touches about the potential danger of climate change, I think its even more serious.

Climate change combined with poor education, low blue collar jobs and poor healthcare infrastructure, the Northern India is setting itself up for perpetual poverty when compared to South India [3].

There is no other brand on the planet with a consistent and comprehensive product lineup as Apple. Just going to apple.com, one can see everything the company does. On top of that they made $387B in revenue last year. That is more than the GDP of New Zealand, Hong Kong or Finland for example.

Their product lineup is so simple compared to competition, that it's often the easiest to recommend their products to tech illiterate population.

Almost all android and laptop manufacturers release so many products that the many choices making buying a product frustrating as if they are designed for the sale and not use.

iPhones are also really affordable when you factor in that you can sell them later for a decent value.

Correction. Our debit cards are only mastercard maestro not visa. Maestro is depricated, and soon everyone in EU will have proper international debit cards.

Yes. I pay for Netflix via UPI e-mandates. The best part of UPI subscriptions is that I can cancel them whenever without going to the merchant's website.

In Netherlands, iDEAL comes close to UPI as well.

Cheap does not always mean lower quality. It's more expensive to repair an iPhone 14 pro than to buy a mid-range android for example.
