"What exactly is wild about it? You didn't hear me screaming this, mouth frothing, as 6 cops try to drag me to the ground from where I'd perched up on some platform with a bullhorn. No violence occurred. Nothing uncivilized, just carefully chosen words" Are you being deliberately obtuse?

"But it itches in the back of your mind somehow, doesn't it? Just couldn't let it go?" You think you're so damn clever don't you?

Every time I comment on any form of social media, I remember why I usually don't. Good day.

The maintainer has said that they've been given permission to maintain it in their free time. All it takes is a bad quarter and the CEO decides they don't want to be supporting a competitor and that goes away. It's possible that a community continuation could happen but I wouldn't rely on something so uncertain for something as important as credentials.

I would agree with you, I see people like Jeff Bezos who's unfathomably wealthy but also treats his workers so terribly that they have to pee in bottles and I wonder why? What compels someone to so obssesively seek wealth that they must treat people like that. I can only see it as some sort of mental illness. When someone compulsively hoards trinkets to the detriment of all around them, we call that a disease and I don't see why we should treat it differently when it's dollars they're collecting.

It's funny, because you're essentially doing the exact same thing you're accusing the person you're talking about of doing: declaring the person an idiot incapable of recognising other people have different priorities.

Sorry, but sometimes people really do just vote against there own interests because they've been convinced of things that are wrong, or they misunderstand something. I expect you could even think of some examples if you tried.

And your whole post is just wildly making assumptions about someone you don't know: - "thinks of others as robots..." - "Everyone in the world must, as some precondition of the universe, be interested in all the same things" - "He cannot imagine that people external to himself have any real interests at all" - "this person tends to think of those others as malfunctioning" - "...it could be some sort of existential crisis as far as he's concerned" - "How could two competing interests even exist in a sane or fair universe" -

Perhaps you could have some faith? I doubt you've never voted for something you came to regret.

His point, I assume, was that many people insulting beurocrats think that those are somehow seperate from the people they elected i.e. it's not some unidentifiable blob responsible for these things but the person /you/ voted for. At least that's my charitable interpretation.

I'm european (what a vague term...) and I disagree completely. I have never seen this attitude you apparently have. I've seen lots of celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship, I've seen less appreciation for the american style "anything goes as long as the stock price goes up" business environment.

"Do you not learn anything about Islam in schools where you live? I'm sure you must have spent at least few hours at History class covering Islam expansion starting with Mohamed." I am ex-muslim, I am aware of islamic history. And what of it? Do christians want to crusade for the levant still? Why are you pointing to literal ancient history?

"You want more people from cultures who think exactly like that" Many don't think like this. I do not want or not want them.

"You believe Muslim women should be baby factories for the West." No I don't, why would you think otherwise?

On second though, you simply extracted what things you could best insult me with from my reply and put words in my mouth, I will no longer be engaging in this. Goodbye.

"I don't know if you've lived in an Islamic country but I have. In fact I was born there and spent more than half my life under Islamic law" are you aware that not all islamic countries are the same, just as all christian countries are not the same. Perhaps you've let your view of your bubble in your home country colour your view of all others. I've been to muslim countries, most people don't care all that much about the west - certainly not enough to make a conspiracy to destroy it with immigration or whatever.

"Islam's objective is to grow and convert as many people as possible" is it? says who? Why do you think there is one unified islam with one goal? As far as I'm aware, islam is not a prosetylising religion, who's out to convert who?

"building mosques all over the world" yes when a bunch of religious people are in a place, they build a place of worship. From your comment history, you're apparently iranian - what exactly is sinister about building mosques?

"increasing population" yes people like to do that, it's a rather enjoyable process, not exactly mindblowing thing to accuse people of.

"weaponizing immigration" how? who is doing that? are these governments deliberately sending people over? Who are they sending? Why has no leak of this conspirary ever happened? Are multiple governments independantly doing this?

"There is a reason Muslim countries don't allow Christians, Jews and other faiths to flourish in their homes." flourish in what sense? many muslim countries have other faiths there. These are the people of the book afterall. Some countries have sharia law that applies only to muslims - harsher laws only for the majority religion.

"No one is advocating for an immigration ban here, or is attempting to bar Muslims" Yes people are, don't be naive, this is absolutely about muslims.

"promoting family values" Or maybe the real reason people aren't having kids are climate anxiety and economic factors. It's not that people just suddenly hate families now. What do you even mean by "family values", send woman back to the kitchen and that'll make people have kids? I doubt that's what you mean so what is your solution?

Do you know what a "bubble" is? In fact, do you actually know any pro-palestinain people or do you get media that tells you about them? These are not the same thing. Very neat that you included "from the river to the sea" as right alongside rape. Very telling.

PS you can find street interviews of random isreali's where they will straight up tell you they wish all palestinians were killed with very little prompting. But I guess they just don't count huh?

There is the option to export the whole thing to HTML, Markdown and OPML (v1 or v2). Plus there is an included script in the trilium folder that dumps the contents of the database, so you can do it even if the trilium software itself doesn't work for some reason.

Trilium is fantastic, I can not recommend it enough. The fact that another enterprising programmer has made an android app, "TriliumDroid", has just made it that much more useful. Even if that app is still in beta.

Interesting how you put "hamas apologists" and not pro-palestinians next to Zionists. How would you have felt if it was written "pro-palestinains and genocide-apologists"?

Incredible to see such blind fanaticism here on HN. The sheer ingnorant, anti-europeanism here is incredible. Europe socialist? Hates capitalism? The home of thacher, austerity, the EU is socialist? I just don't even know what media one consumes to get this kind of world view.

Is this how american's justify selling their country to the highest bidder? "at least we're not eating toilet paper like the europeans". You know, some of the richest people in the world...

Just because that land is there doesn't mean we need to have cows on it though. Also don't forget that the methane porduced by cow herds also contributes to climate change.

If we don't raise cows on land that could sustain crops or use that land to produce animal feed, that would necessarily mean there will be less meat to eat. We would in fact need to reduce our meat consumption to account for this. Surely you can see you're contradicting yourself by saying we don't neede to eat less meat but also shouldn't use feed-lots?

"This is just a fact of life, no one is to blame for it."

Please remember that your culture affects your idea of normal immensley. There are large periods of history where europeans considered being overweight attractive, where being extremely pale was attractive rather than tan etc. Some cultures have even more extreme versions of this (foot binding, neck lengthening rings etc). Those people probably thought that their idea of beuaty was "just a fact of life" too.

You're using some really emotional language about what is really not such a huge issue. Maybe it's time to go offline for a while?

"no different than a mob subjecting an old woman to accusations of being a witch."

Well, you're not being driven out of your village or being executed... Also the person you're replying to has beeing rather polite. Hardly a witch hunt is it?

"barely different from those of the Westboro Baptist Church"

The church that interrupts the grieving of the families of dead soldiers to shout about how much they hate gay people? You seriously believe that the person you're repling to is "barely different" from that?

"IOW, sure, you are allowed to publicly condemn people who hold different moral beliefs to you, but the optics are not good for you."

You're literally condeming them for having different moral beliefs than you right now, while being much more accusatory about it, comparing them to some really vile people. I wonder how you feel the optics of this reflects on you, because I don't think it's good for you.

Why are you so offended that someone might judge you for ignoring the friendly request of someone giving you something for free?

Unprovoked?

Are you aware that gaza has been under siege for decades? When Egypt refused to allow israeli ships throught the canal, Isreal invaded. According to israel, a blockade is cause enought for war.

Also why do you think gaza is so small? When did they lose access to the rest of the land around it? Why are there so many settlements?

You can really only say it's unprovoked if you ignore all of history before october 7th.

Oh and indiscriminately killing civilians is bad. Shame only one side of this 'debate' agrees.

"Most women, if unrestricted, can get most men to do almost anything they want using sex."

You have a deeply negative view of my sex. Do you seriously believe that all men are robots who loose all agency when they're horny? If so, why isn't all the world run by women?
