We are https://welcome.tech, a group of Gen -/+1 immigrants creating a suite of products to help the newly immigrated backbone of America succeed. Our bread and butter is our POPDERcard banking Fintech Product (occasionally, we have hit the top 15 rankings in the iOS App Store under Finance), enabling the unempowered masses to access banking. But we have way more products we have been working on that create exciting network effects. We have a small, intimate, and highly accomplished four-person engineering team. We are looking to scale this team with other skilled, humble, and quirky engineers.

I pretty much exclusively followed the last presidential election through Snapchat channels.

No, but my grandfather owned a successful restaurant. Invested all the profits into real estate. Built an empire of 5mil+ as a Mexican immigrant. Towards the end, he had everything pretty automated by people he hired. Property managers for the rentals and a mix of family and a good restaurant manager for the restaurant. He would just come in on Sundays to count the money/accounting.

Side note. Our entire family has been destroyed by fighting over money. Money isn't everything. :)

My first software job out of college was working for a healthcare company. I worked in the Drug Comparison team (which consisted of 3 people) finding people ways to save on prescriptions by beating the system using software! Yay, helping the world and stuff.

Actually, we ended up selling out and building systems that benefited healthcare provider's formulary plans. For example, not recommending generics, which was most of what we got paid 500k+ per contract to do.

We did do some amazing work on Medicare Part D stuff, tho. We saved some elderly people tons of money by algorithmically reccomending them the right drugs at cheaper cost.

I've looked @ Blizzard jobs and they pay remarkably low. They consider it a privilege to work there. Supposedly it gets better after 3-5 years of proving yourself. Just seems like your typical enterprise position.
