There have been plenty of directory services lately. During that same period, I also launched indieproducts.io. Luckily, it has grown organically, and I get at least two to three submissions every day (I approve one product a day).
Other than simply charging for submissions, what other ways could I monetize this service?
e.g. - Top spots(top 1 to 3 rows) for x number of weeks or months? - Write blogs and YouTube reviews for the paid submission? - What else could I offer as a paid service?
I think it is - https://snazzy.ai/
Many already pointed out that your writing is good. I will just add, read about "imposter syndrome". That will clear some of your doubts and you might start thinking in a different direction (at-least for writing capabilities if not anything else).
p.s. I totally understand your feeling. I am also a non native English speaker.
BTW, accessing metarank.ai gives warning. May be because it has Meta in its domain name but Metamask shows this message --
This domain is currently on the MetaMask domain warning list. This means that based on information available to us, MetaMask believes this domain could currently compromise your security and, as an added safety feature, MetaMask has restricted access to the site. To override this, please read the rest of this warning for instructions on how to continue at your own risk.
Exactly, that is what I was hoping to find in this article. But if they disclose it might open up new opportunities and so quite possible we would never know.
Please elaborate somewhere on the website what it is going to generate. Web application, mobile app, smart watch app(based on one of the image) or all of them or just a responsive website. Other than that I had the same suggestion to remove requirement for account creation for trial or have a video/animation of how it works.
https://divjoy.com/ did a great job of providing reactjs(and extras) and was free for initial few months. Definitely refer to that for more inspiration on design and capabilities. May be provide some templates(pre-built) of few types(like the one you have it as part of tutorial)
> "... and am unmotived to dive back into the fray..." What is done is gone now.
Think about it this way: You were stressed because of that situation/job which is no more with you. So why continue thinking about it and not be motivated again for a new job which definitely will be better or at the least different than the previous one?
Get back in the job market and start preparing with a positive attitude towards your new job(which you will get soon). And this time you know how you can identify the situation before it gets too late.
So sleep more today/tonight if you want :-) but get back to the job hunting with full throttle starting tomorrow. Good luck!
Same story at my home. Research in this area is widespread. We have stopped giving screen time before school and it has improved the attention span thru our the day(may be there is some impact on how you start the day or may be just in my case).
Screen times are in the chunks of 20 mins, max 3 times a day. Alexa/Google have been helpful in setting up timers so no argument at the end whether it was full 20 min or not :-)
After returning from school. Evening, after completing school/activity work. After dinner.
Any day, not more than 60 mins(baring occasional movie time holidays/some weekends).
But due to this, I am not able to introduce them to "programming" because you tube and video games are taking up all the quotas and I am sure once programming is introduced 20 min window will not work.
Speaking of luck, this article was on front page sometime ago and had lot of good things about how to attract good luck.
The key to good luck is an open mind - [http://nautil.us/blog/-the-key-to-good-luck-is-an-open-mind]
So luck can be a factor, but may be that also could be a trait?
One another imp factor I would suggest is to try experimenting with your sleep hours. Sometimes an extra half an hour of sleep can make a great difference.
Not sure if Baba Ramdev is all good and clean or not but I myself have used(and have been using) Patanjali's products and they are pretty good. If they are all herbal and chemical free as they claim then all good. But even if they are not, it would be same as using other products.
Misleading article. The sharp spike in the graph was due to the drastic increase in the bitcoin price. This was the time when Bitcoin hit all time high and so the # of searches for the term.
Now that phase has passed and so the search trend is coming back to as it was before the spike. Also, it will go down because now more and more people already know about crypto. Not sure how that is a bad sign. Totally misleading article.
Not sure about others but I have noticed increase in the number of articles published on nytimes.com on the front page on HN. And because I am not a paid user for them, I hardly get to read these articles(it seems they have limit of free articles/month).
Just curious, as these articles are on the front page(one nytimes article almost every day), most of the HN community pay for their subscription? Or there is something else going on e.g. voting ring with paid subscription to promote and increase their sign up rates?
Thanks for the details. I think it would be a good idea to take this free(MIT) course first, and then see if you are still interested in this topic and/or missing some required coaching which one could get with Udacity(paid of-course).
Interesting launch. Last month for Producthunt hackathon I was planning to create something similar by using openfaas, but did not(just like many other ideas/side projects we all have here :-)). One questions that bothered me a lot was how to define pricing for such product?
Would you be able to throw some light on how you/your team came up with the sustainable plan and pricing you have?
Nice. I wonder how comparable it is with Udacity's Self-Driving Car Nanodegree. Specially if MIT's lectures are freely available over the internet(YouTube).
Now getting error message: Bitcoin cash purchases temporarily disabled.
Based on my experience:
Apart from number of hours, it is also important that you sleep sound. 7 hrs of sleep for a person with no sleep disorder and person with sleep apnea has different impact on productivity.
For me this is what I have found age < 20: Sleep hours never impacted my productivity, even if awake all night. 20-30 Years of age: Min 5 Hrs of sleep and I was 100% productive. 30-35+: Productivity got impacted if I slept less than 6. At present(35-40): I am 100% ONLY if I sleep more than 7.5 Hrs.
Every now and then we see studies come out and researchers tell us the importance of sleep and its impact on our brains. I found it to be true in my case.
I couldn't understand what it does. Also, Github link is broken. https://github.com/fileformat/heatmaptv
You mean something like this?
Good idea. One important feature that can make it great idea is to match open positions based on the resume's text and the job title and description text(NLP). Then present a screen with the list of the companies with job information algorithm matched with check-boxes. So that user can decide where to apply.
I am 99% sure this post was submitted to HN after user read following comment yesterday:
Most Important: Be humble.
You know how to program and do the technical design, but do not do that anymore.
Delegate the development/technical tasks to your tech lead/Sr Developer. Help/Suggest them if they are overloaded or lagging behind but don't impose your technical strategies. Delegate and delegate!
Keep everyone involved. Do not hide any information from team. Invite Sr Dev/QA/Tech leads to the meetings with clients(selectively).
Give importance to every team member. Involve them in decision making.
Finally, do all of the above based on the situations. Do not do everything all the time.
So...Manage all of this to become a good Manager!
I want to learn "How to focus effectively." This will in turn help me learn many other things in future.
How about creating a petition here about this issue and we all sign it?
I would love to use and contribute to any such project in Python or Java.
Feature wise, I would say should start with everything we have in Huginn.
:-) Feel free to suggest! I hope it conveyed the idea. Is there any such framework built in Python too? Are there any such frameworks built with Python too?
So there are hidden gems in the comments(at-least for me, I did not know about Node-Red, Bipio etc). Thanks for sharing!
Is/are there any such framework/s built with/in Python too?
