I’m sharing a project I’ve been working on with a client called CartOS. As someone who has spent a lot of time in the e-commerce space, I was interested in their approach to 'un-siloing' the merchant stack.

The platform is built for businesses that want Shopify-level ease of use but need deeper control over the theme engine and backend extensibility. It uses Liquid templating for front-end flexibility, but the 'Bolt' system is what caught my eye—it allows for adding complex logic (SEO engines, shipping protection, reviews) as modular units rather than messy third-party app injections.

A few technical highlights:

-> Unified Logic: It bridges digital storefronts with a native POS (NFC, KDS integration) on a single database, avoiding the typical sync lag between retail and web.

-> Liquid Support: Full control over the storefront design for those comfortable with Shopify’s templating language.

-> Built-in Automation: It includes 'Cascade,' a native marketing engine, so you aren't piping data out to third-party email tools just to send a recovery flow.

It was developed by a team with 30 years of enterprise experience (Salloq), and the focus was on making the 'infrastructure' invisible so merchants can just scale.

I’d love to hear this community's thoughts on the 'Bolt' architecture vs. a traditional App Store model. Does the 'all-in-one' approach appeal to you, or do you prefer the modularity of separate services?

Agreed. That’s why we built the Source-Verification layer. The model isn't allowed to generate a fact unless it can point to a specific page in the uploaded medical records. It’s designed as a drafter/summarizer for the attorney to review, not a robot lawyer that files autonomously.

I wouldn't trust an LLM to write a legal document. It will invent cases.

While working on SEO for my own bootstrapped product, I ran into something that confused me early on: even after building backlinks, rankings didn’t move at all.

I assumed backlinks were the missing piece — but after digging deeper and testing across a few launches, I realized backlinks often don’t work in isolation.

Some things I learned the hard way:

- Backlinks amplify existing signals; they don’t replace weak content - Relevance and context matter more than raw DR - Internal linking can completely block link equity if done poorly - New domains often need time, even when links are “good” - Keyword competitiveness matters more than link count early on

I wrote up a short breakdown with examples from launching and growing a small SaaS, mainly aimed at solo founders and indie hackers who are doing SEO themselves (no agencies, no big budgets).

I built two small products mostly using AI-assisted coding (plus a lot of manual glue work).

I ran a small SEO experiment on a new site to see whether directory submissions still move the needle.

Process:

Used a curated directory submission service (Listmy.site)

Focused on startup / SaaS directories only

No guest posts, no link exchanges

Result:

DR increased from 12 to 28 in under 2 weeks

This isn’t meant as a replacement for long-term link building, but it seems useful as a base layer for new domains.

My internship ended recently, and I was offered a Junior Software Engineer role. The pay and growth didn’t really align with the effort I was putting in, so I made a tough call.

It’s not life-changing money, but it’s validation — and honestly, relief. This is the first time something I built made money without a boss, a company name, or a salary attached to it.

Still early, still risky, but this small win changed how I think about betting on myself.
