Wow - I had no idea there had been so many cycles in the rise, stagnation and decline of intelligence. I would agree we are at risk of another decline due to over reliance on large language models.

I had absolutely no idea there were so many watchmakers that were great inventors. But there are many time pieces which are works of engineering marvel.

It makes no sense that intelligence research is unintelligible to a wider audience. I almost gave up reading, but then thought, no I want to understand this. Good thoughts … we need a Carl Sagan to communicate it better!

I think in future I will use a symbol rather than a ‘character (un) likeness ’

Very, very impressive.. I ran a couple of tests and on the complex it received 80% although I would say it was harsh as the answer could be said to be correct- although I found the questions generated rather simple not complex.
The 2nd test it was 100% incorrect for the complex questions! However when I checked directly with gpt-4 based upon the questions rendered it answered 100% correct. Could that be due to my custom settings in gpt4? Will run it with university students. Fascinating work
By 2050 gas stations will disappear to be replaced by electric charging stations which will be automated.
My thoughts:
Fleets of self-driving trucks will be on the roads worldwide by 2020.
Those same trucks will have a ‘delivery driver’ inside the cabin for at least another 10 years.
By 2030 all sales of new trucks will be self-driving From 2030 onwards a robot such as the latest generation Atlas will be in the cabin to handle deliveries.
By 2050 very few, if any, human couriers will be used, instead people will have new jobs coordinating the self-driving trucks, delivery robots and facilitation depots.
