Yes. As a maintainer whom actually cares about feedback and usability, I care that features developed apply to the real world and aren't imagined in an utopian vacuum by own possibly insane biases. Social democracy, not authoritarianism. If code isn't usable by other people in the real world, it's just graffiti while waiting for Godot.
This is arrogant and misguided.
There are a minority of very capable people whom need to be able to report security issues and want to contribute valuable additions easily.
I for one just found a CVE-worthy DoS in a popular YAML library, and an working to resolve it and improve testing.
Shutting off the phone and answering machine because of telemarketers isn't "the" solution, because then no one can get ahold of you.
Instead, deal with the shit to get the sugar too. Otherwise, why use GitHub or why have a phone?
So were many the hundreds of thousands of sailors whom have died at sea. The ocean doesn't care about experience or arrogance when a storm comes up and drowns this guy, or the great deal of money and risk to rescuers this clown imposes should he manage to somehow not die.
This almost assures some quite terrible conclusions in the long-term:
When it becomes technologically possible to interface electronics into our brains, corporations will have almost unprecedented opportunities to do some really terrible things directly when the world becomes socially-pressured to be neurally-connected.
I say "almost" because the manufacturing of consent and desires exist now and it is popularly believed to "apply other people but never me," a direct connection has the potential to make this manipulation cheaper and stimulate the brain in ways a glowing screen looks like banging rocks together.
It's a feedback effect of consumer choice with corporate oligopolization and monocultural cost-optimization.
Popular, easy and cheap wins most of the time, even if it hides deferred costs like terrible security and engineering choices.

Also, having run an email startup in London, patching and anti-spam at almost any scale is nontrivial.
I hope this dies in its current form because:

1. Protocols and standards exist for interoperability.
2. Tries to rebuild everything (supply- and demand-sides) while fixing very little.
Fix what's here and now for the benefit of everyone with a migration path, not for the benefit of a few in a temporary, constrained, arbitrary way divides people similarly to the way Facebook tried to foist another internet onto the third-world.

I use a cheap, no-brand 7x 18650 cell USB battery with a seemingly gimmicky solar panel that actually works from Amazon. It both charges and discharges slowly, but it works good enough for now and it's TSA-compliant to pack in carry-on. It's really poorly designed in that all sides are symmetric and the manual power button lacks an affordance... it does have automatic power-on based on USB draw.
As a similar potential business model, Monoprice seems like a great business for the customer, as cables are/were the highest margin items in electronics store, but I wonder if they're making enough money to be viable: anyone can knock-off cables and compete to the bottom worse than DRAM ($.75 USB cable, where's the profit in that?)

This article is interesting because most people on Earth are resource-constrained. Also, many first-world people still don't have sufficient digital literacy to be aware when/if their technologies are receiving security updates. Finally, scooping up every last consumer of content via maybe important for financial or social venture success if the costs are scalable, but also maybe required by accessibility regulations which benefit the common wealth. I think the point of the article is to realize reality for most people isn't the same as the bubble in high-income metropolitan areas, and that a balance of competing tyrannies is necessary when considering what and whom to build for and support.

I completely disagree. If you look at a recent video of Tesla self-driving real-world "debug" mode with identification/classification bounding boxes, that and Musk's bet on the simplicity of pure-optical CV they have a convincing argument for full autonomy reasonably within a few years.

Another neat thing to deploy into dns is sshfp records so there's almost never ssh fingerprint verification prompts for deployed hosts. Alternatively, ssh host fingerprints can be deployed to LDAP.

For a given real use-case communication pattern, there will be different optimizations and approaches to squeeze peformance out of client and server hardware. (No 1SFA, YMMV.)
Google Wi-Fi mesh network in Mountain View hasn't worked in a long time. Toronto may well get similar service decline.
Also, Starbucks Google Wi-Fi rarely uses Google Fibre, IME, and instead uses commercial providers like AT&T and Comcast. Plus, Starbucks hasn't deployed much SGWF in Silicon Valley so it's still basically vaporware. (There's a Starbucks in Santa Clara with non-Google Wi-Fi as slow as dial-up.) They'd be wise to cancel the Google partnership and go with an outsourcer whom has access to a couple of big providers to maximize cheapest/fastest/coverage and handles all the deployment, support and security.

Actual university degree programs in the US are accredited by shops like ABET, which don't specify textbooks by name (probably because they change so often because $$$). Reasonable and trustworthy (not necessarily the best) textbooks for subjects can be found by comparing course syllabii on any number of top 50 university course websites and browsing titles on sellers which offer free samples.
There are seminal books in disciplines (ie Art of Electronics, TAOCP or SICP) but they're not "bibles" per-se.

- There shouldn't be too many nor too few hash algos. Too many: paradox of choice, user confusion and interop overhead. Too few: security monoculture risks being broken by well-funded state actors
- Sane, future-ready default: SHA3-512
Also, git GPG signing should change to signing content, in addition to or instead of, hashes.
Overly-aggressive negative LoC competition can also increase technical debt and support issues, if taken too far.
I think being quick and responsive to consistently deliver what customers need is more important... because without profitability and useful utility, code is mostly academic.

If he truly cared so much about equality, he'd spend zillions to lobby Congress to massively raise taxes on the rich, publicly-finance political campaigns, commit to real climate change policy, enact single-payer healthcare and address broken justice and mental healthcare systems with reform and compassion of investing in citizens and the public commonwealth.
Sure his giving some capital to B&MGF seems like a noble deed, but it doesn't go far enough to change the world for the better in desperately vital ways given his assets, influence and capabilities.
Buffett might live in a tiny house in Nebraska and try to seem a "good guy," but actions ultimately speak louder than words. That might seem harsh/entitled/demanding but a few people like him control trillions of dollars and the politics of many countries (which is also partly our fault for not opposing these conditions and demanding a fairer division of profits/labor/representation.), he's in a much better position to act instead of "standing around" as if he's stuck in an economic "bystander effect."
This is what I love about the design and operational philosophy of the Erlang/OTP evironment: the trickier class of harder-to-test/reproduce transient/timing pre-defensive-coding issues can sometimes be resolved automagically under supervision trees restarting said Erlang process. Log the stacktrace as a failure to maybe be fixed and move on. That's in addition to a robust soft-realtime, SMP VM which allows remote, live debugging.
