Apologies. Fireworks are the text book example of public goods.

making the public good a private good so they could raise the money for making the transition :)
but seriously, the reasons are legit.
I tried this for a while, via daily tweets instead of a journal. Tried to find one thing a day, even if it was the smallest of things (e.g. first time wearing a new pair of socks!).
Very quickly I found out that my daily gratitudes are about (1) driving to/from work that was less congested than usual. (2) finding a good parking spot (mostly at work). (3) getting a tasty lunch (during lunch break, at work).
This actually depressed me, b/c it was just further indication all I do is work.
Doesn't it make it hard for you to fall asleep night time?
I suffer from general fatigue
I think I do too. I'm always tired and weak. Check ups and blood works are OK, and doctors I see just say 'there's nothing wrong with you, you're probably just depressed'. Nope.
Very frustrating.
1) I may sound like a total n00b, but don't you find it hard to code only from a command line environment? I mean, you can't use IDEs with SSH, right?
2) I'm going to be that guy that chimes in and says you have to be careful with code you write on company's time / using company equipment. So, be careful with that.
How easy is it to retrieve and browse through information stored?
+1 :(
IMHO for a 12 y/o to stick to a goal and work on something for a year, without losing interest or moving to a new shiny object, is no less remarkable than actually producing a game. Well done.
Fortunately, there are new automated tools today that can do that automatically.
can you please elaborate?
Hi, anyway to PM you with a question? Tnx
Can I PM you somehow ? Tnx
emailed you :)
Can I PM you somehow for a question? Tnx
Interesting. For the less tech savvy, is there a way to take the list on [1] and _automatically_ update the hosts file on my own machine (mac)?
Strange. Neither sportlight or alfred can find it. (and alfred does search though system files)
Thank you very much for your reply. I magic barred it on my mac and couldn't find it. A little more help? Know the direct path? Is it global or per browser? Thanks again.
Non techie here. Mind sharing what the hosts file is and how you use it? I've been hesitant to use 3rd party extensions/tools that block websites. I just assume if they are free they must sell my data. Also, controlling something on local machine could be cool. I'd experiment with adding/removing sites on random timeframes, to see if that could help me (one weird trick to help you overcome your social media addiction!)
Love both of these. Started working on a similar thing to #2 in python, never got around to finishing it.
I'd be really interested in #1. Even with facebook's open event search and meetup radius based search, still find it hard to find somewhere I'll want to be. Good job.
don't think there was room for a downvote really... I'm used to python 2 syntax and would argue more than 50% of python enthusiasts prefer it.
thanks, and also - :(
This is cool. Python 2.x or 3.x?
wow. kudos! pretty incredible it makes so much money today, when you can do it with ifttt
awesome awesome idea. any willingness to disclose a few numbers?
fwiw I was in the same situation and found taking a stab at the challenges in http://www.reddit.com/r/dailyprogrammer helpful.
Google helpouts too
Hi, kudos on the tool. Does it work with sites where some content is revealed only if the user scrolls down and/or has to click a "load more" button at the bottom? That's a major pain point.
from a sample size of 3 cherry picked providers, one should add :)
J.C. Penny was founded in 1902 and for years everything in the store cost a penny :). Same goes for the price of coke that stayed at a penny for 70+ years :).
So I guess in the very long run $5 isn't sustainable (and they're going at that direction btw... $5 is just the starting point nowadays)
